The material possession will make people lose their mind, to let people become crazy, and then will take them down. At the novel page 127, Michele’s father said, “two ears, we'll cut off. Two!” his father was going to crazy, that all because the material possessions, Michele has know his father was a kidnapper just now. Then, with the compassion and material possessions he did choose the pity to be his way, which helped him to make choose to save Filippo when Filippo has got in to trouble. Michele has tried to save Filippo out of the hole that because the villagers become mind, and he was the only one who still has clear mind.

Barbary Pirates and American Captives In 1804 American ships set out of Maryland headed to a Spanish port. On their way the encountered a ship full of Barbary pirates, a North African Muslim based crew. The Pirates jumped over and boarded the American shipped with weapons, forcing the Americans to strip to shirts and draws. By the end of the year the Pirates had taken over more than ten ships and vessels. The pirates enslaved and killed the crews.
So In South Carolina, a group of slaves (about 20) gathered by the Stono River and revolted.These slaves raided firearms shop and killed 20 whites colonists while marching south towardsSt. Augustine, Florida where land was available to any fugitive by the Spanish. The colonistrecovered and chased down the slaves and killed most of them while other scattered. Thisuprising planted seeds of fear in the slave owners as well as the government. Huck manages to escape by faking his own death. While hiding from the search party on an island in the middle of the river he finds Jim. Jim was a runaway slave from the house that Huck was living in at the time. Huck struggles with the morality of not turning in his friend. On one occasion, he almost turned Jim in until he heard him say, “Dah you goes, de ole true Huck; de on'y white genlman dat ever kep' his promise to ole Jim (Twain 810).
The final image of Sutpen given by Rosa is that some black man kills him on his plantation. Rosa also asks Quentin to come with her to the old Sutpen mansion, because she thinks someone is hiding out there. Continuing with his stream of consciousness technique, Faulkner has Mr. Compson tell the next few chapters through his memories of Thomas Sutpen. Sutpen was in the Cival War with General Compson, and as the stories have been passed down to Mr. Compson, he is passing the story now to Quentin. In Mr. Copsons version, I learned of Sutpens marriage disaster, his immediate family,his illegitimate child with a slave, and a previous marriage to a woman who was 1/8 black, who bears Sutpen a son, which is his dream, but also his downfall.
Also, the Europeans developed benevolent treatment towards slaves to prolong their health and ensure their survival in order to increase margins of profit. The African slave trade began in 1444 when the first successful shipment of slaves was transported from West Africa to Portugal. The beginning of the slave trade proved to be uncivilized and inefficient. The Portuguese captains evoked nothing but fear upon their arrival, and barbarically “killed and seized as many as they could.” (Document 1, pg 7) To avoid being captured, some Africans resorted to suicide by drowning themselves in the water. The Portuguese had captured 165 Africans, including women and children.

The audience is introduced to Ossei. One night the women warriors of Dahomey raid his village and his entire family has been killed with the exception of his mother. On his journey to free her he befriends an old man who reads his future and predicts that this is only the beginning of the hardship their people have to face.
