Sharon Jackson S03a1 Understanding the Treadway Case The Treadway tire company, in Lima is going through difficult times; profit margins are falling due to increasing cost of business and the high increase of competition. The company must examine the core of the problem and identify the solutions that will rescue the company. Ashley Wall, the director of human resources in Treadway Tire Company, highlighted major issues that were a source of unnecessary spending to the company. These problems included; high employee turnover, incompetent training among employees, and low employee morale. There was also a lack of proper training among the line foremen which made the foremen unable to operate the company sufficiently. Due to a lack of improper training, the foremen were unable to handle the stress of being caught in between the confusion among the employee union and the management. Instead of supplying the employee accurate training, the supervisor concluded to coerce the foremen to produce results. The tension between the supervisors and the foremen resulted in chaos among them and the workers beneath them. The foremen and the supervisors were under stress and were measured based upon their production. This is what formed into an increase turnover of foremen in the company rise cost of business. Ashley Walls ultimate error was focusing her attention towards the problem of the company’s hourly workers. Wall should have begun her investigation by addressing the issue from the top of the company. In order to maintain the company from destruction, Wall should reconstitute the company’s training system that will prepare the foremen and other workers on how to progressively for fill their job duties.
