These under age prostitutes are just at risk of catching and spreading other sexually transmitted diseases to their babies and to other johns-not to mention each other. These children are also subjected to mental abuse from both the johns and the pimps which can lead to serious long term mental illness. These illness include everything from anxiety to depression to thoughts of suicide and even post-traumatic stress disorder. In the United States, 25 of 61 pregnant prostituted adolescents reported that they had seriously considered or attempted suicide within the past year( Pro- stitution and Sex Trafficking pg 54). The child prostitute has to endure feelings of hopelessness, abandonment, insomnia, nightmares and constantly being degraded by the johns and the pimps.

Cynthia Byrd November 25, 2013 Incarceration of Women with Children The incarceration of women with children has become increasingly great since 1990. The effects it has are not solely on the parents but also on the entire family and their surroundings as well. The cost it takes to imprison a single person takes a tremendous amount of money; however, the costs also have repercussions involving employability and housing. The effects of incarceration also have a huge impact on the children of those being imprisoned. The children are the ones who suffer the most because of the deprivations of their parents.

Fortunately the fight against human trafficking is in full force and there are many organizations that offer help and guidance on human trafficking to anyone that might be involved or interested in learning

Sex Trafficking of Children in the United States I As bad as it may seem or sound, child trafficking is actually happening in the world and has been going on for years. Federally funded human trafficking task forces opened 2,515 suspected incidents of human trafficking for investigation between January 2008 and June 2010. Most suspected incidents of human trafficking were classified as sex trafficking (82%), including more than 1,200 incidents with allegations of adult sex trafficking and more than 1,000 incidents with allegations of prostitution or sexual exploitation of a child (U.S. Department of Justice). This concludes that majority of the incidents of human trafficking are women and children being sexually exploited. Therefore, I
Most humans have fear in speaking against something that is unjust and a violation of our dignity because it gives power to the higher authority to control. Sex trafficking has been a violation of our dignity as well because society fails to give it such importance and education. While viewing the colloquium on sex trafficking, Dr. Brian showed a short 5-minute video by Nicholas Kristoff who was a journalist by the NY Times that aired a documentary particularly about a 14-year-old girl who was forced into prosecution in Asia and then was left to be physical abused to an extent that she lost an eye. I could imagine how cruel our society can be. What hope and dignity did this girl have left at such a young age?
Women in Northern Uganda are constantly raped but they are never allowed to do an abortion when they became pregnant. Many of the children become homeless because they leave them in the streets (Elisabeth Schauer and Thomas Elbert). Due to these struggles in such young age, children are desperate for some identity. Groups like Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam use their past to make them join their group like they did for Ida. Psychological damage before even becoming a soldier due to their poor and unhealthy Many girls join Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam to protect themselves from economic hardships and rape but the military or any civil war groups cannot protect them from the dangers of their own country.
diarrhoeal disease, malnutrition). Social and economic costs The social and economic costs of intimate partner and sexual violence are enormous and have ripple effects throughout society. Women may suffer isolation, inability to work, loss of wages, lack of participation in regular activities and limited ability to care for themselves and their children. Prevention and response Currently, there are few interventions whose effectiveness has been proven through well designed studies. More resources are needed to strengthen the prevention of intimate partner and sexual violence, including primary prevention, i.e.
Sex Trafficking Effects on Immigration within Central America Sex Trafficking Effects on Immigration within Central America Trafficking in Persons (TIP) for the purpose of exploitation is a lucrative criminal activity that is a major concern for the United States and its neighboring countries. According to recent U.S. State Department estimates, roughly 800,000 people are trafficked across its borders each year, adding to the already ongoing problem of illegal immigration. While most trafficking victims still appear to originate from South and Southeast Asia or the former Soviet Union, human trafficking has been a growing problem in Central America since the start of the 1990s. Countries in Central America serve as source, transit, and
