This tended to cause a lot of early complaints. This could negatively impact the effectiveness of the police force if people were this unsure about them.” This source suggests that there was an element of distrust, as the people did not know what the police did, thus the police force’s work was doubled, as not only did they have to combat crime, but they also had to reassure the public that they were not a military force, and that they could be trusted. Therefore, initially this might have led to many crimes being unreported, making the force ineffective. “This source shows the inconsistency of crime prevention in the growing industrial cities in the early 19th century. Where Newcastle had an 'efficient force' other areas such as Liverpool were 'policed by a mix of watchmen and parish constables'.
Company Q’s stores were reportedly closed due to their lack in generating profit, being that these stores were in high crime areas raises some concern. Statistics show that the trends are not only concentrated in a residential urban community but are wide spread amongst metropolitan areas. “The narrowing of the gap between city and suburban crime rates underscores that crime is not solely an urban challenge, but metropolitan-wide issue.” (Raphael, 2011) Although these stores were in high crime areas Company Q could have taken steps to improve customer safety. Company Q might have offered security that other local establishments may not have provided. Company Q could have offered parking lot security in conjunction with
Purchase things that otherwise we couldn’t pay with cash because of the higher cost. C. Subpoint: Bad credit can result in major headaches. It can haunt us for life. A lot of the new apartment communities won’t accept those who apply with poor credit, we can’t but a new car and if we do, our interest rate is through the
If a company’s internal controls are not working properly customers and investors will be more doubtful and have second thoughts on their investments and money being safe which will lead to having less investor and the stocks will drop. It is very important for companies to have their internal controls up to date and making sure they are working properly because this can cause major setbacks financially. But there are some instances were internal controls cannot even stop unethical behavior from happening such as shoplifting in a shopping mall or even a bank
It all depends on your perspective. If i was a police officer, or if I personally knew a police officer, I would have supported them. It was very unfair that the police department had to buy their own uniforms and, after talking with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the government, could not get their salaries raised. Although it was unfair for the officers, if I was just a common person, I would not have supported the strike, because the police force is vital. If the police went on strike there would be no one to keep order, resulting in chaos.
This causes many issues with people and society. There becomes an unneeded amount of people on the streets. This is an ethical problem because the people who choose to be on the streets could be off of the streets but they choose to be lazy and unmotivated although they shouldn’t be because they can relieve themselves of the predicament they are in. This is ethically wrong because people shouldn’t be homeless by choice. It’s not okay because it causes more money to be wasted towards people that shouldn’t be helped at all.
There for cutting down on the consumption of fuel and less traffic jams. If you cut down on how much fuel is being used and how many highways are being built just to accommodate these vehicles you’re making a bigger disaster than most people think to the environment. Owen makes these ideas clear that less space and more transit means less energy and fuel. He realizes that even though many find the idea of New York actually being a green city ridiculous that in many cases it is very true. The living space is scarce but less energy is being consumed and wasted, and the transit not only lowers traffic but places less fuel in the atmosphere than what is really
The next issue is false data in gang activity decreasing. For example, gang activity decreasing because gang members are getting older and are aging out of the gang not because the programs are working. The last issue is that we try to take local programs that have success at a small city level and try to make them work nationally. For example what might have worked in Pittsburgh would not work at a national level because not all cities are the same demographically or size. 2.
This action demonstrates a lack of interest to aid the less fortunate in the community, as well as failing to increase their customer base. The less fortunate members of society also have to shop for groceries, and they most certainly have a choice where to make their purchases. While Company Q management is making the decision to throw the food away, this results in revenue loss to the company. Shareholders are not likely to invest in a company which prefers to lose revenue rather than contributing to society,
Think to yourself of what our country would be like without vehicles. If the United States government one day decided to banish all vehicles from the country there would be many changes that would have to be made. Many Americans would have to change their entire lifestyle. In some aspects, this would be a benefit for society but in other ways it would be a major hindrance to our great nation. You may think that this would just cause you to walk more often than you do now.
