Traffic congestion is very common due to the huge number of vehicles and lack of highways in cities. It can be very annoyed and irritated when we stuck in traffic jams for hours. How can we solve this problem? First of all, to my thinking of way public transport like buses, trains, trams and underground are the solution to traffic congestion because they carry the large numbers of people at one time. This vastly reduces the number of people driving individual cars on the road. Secondly, the governments should impose gas taxes during peak hours of road congestion and charges for entry to the city center for trucks between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. What’s more environmental campaigns are the tasks for state authorities to encourage society to try other forms of transportation such as walking, bike riding, carpooling. It is obvious that campaigns not always reduce the amount of cars on the road but also helps decrease carbon emissions into the environment. Another thing is creating a special lanes and larger roads with capacity for walking, bicycling and public transport, too. A lot of transport organizations claimed that it is the best idea in order to reduce congestions during rush hours. Moreover, needless to say that building of ring roads will significantly decrease a road traffic. Finally, parking restrictions, making motor vehicle use less attractive by increasing the monetary costs of parking. Most transport planning experts agree that free parkings encourage to car travels, exacerbating congestions. In conclusion, reduction of traffic jams is definitely possible and if we all make an effort, we can make a huge difference but one should be aware that actions speak louder than
