", 2014). Reactive patrol also involves the follow-up investigations required to gain additional information to prosecute. In other words, it consists of police waiting for crime and then going to the scene to try to apprehend the suspect or suspects. As a result, the officer has lowered the crime rate by using undercover operations, asking questions, and the use of other tactics ("What Is Reactive Patrol? ", 2014).
One without the other in my eyes would not work. Reactive patrol takes care of the calls of emergency which come in daily and proactive patrol would take care of preventive patrol. One without the other in my eyes would produce a chaotic city. If there was no reactive patrol then there would be no one to respond to emergency. If there was no proactive patrol then there would be no one to take care of our citizens.
Kerri Brosius 12/10/2010 Final Paper Police Detective/Pivate Investigator In my future career I would like to become a detective/private investigator. A Detective means to discover or determine. It is a person who evaluates persons, places, or things, in order to make determinations. The information they have may be used to find someone or something, solve a mystery or solve a crime. The term “detective” is one title a lot of law enforcement agencies use, in most cases they are referring to “Private Investigators”.
The aspects of scene documentation and evidence collection as regard to the case scenario are discussed below. Scene documentation The documentation process at the scene of the crime commences from the moment an investigating officer receives a call until the time the scene is relinquished, (George, 2011). Scene documentation is a very important step in the crime scene investigations. Producing and preserving records of the location of evidence and establishing the relationship between the available evidence and the condition of the scene as it was when the investigator observed it. The result of a well-documented scene is the ability of others who were not part of the investigation to take the finished product and use it to reconstruct the scene and the chain of events during the incident.
Predictive Policing Strayer University CIS 500 Information Systems for Decision Making Abstract This paper researches COMPuter STATistic (CompStat). CompStat is a crime fighting strategy in which is used to locate where different crimes are occurring and map problem areas. Different agencies are using this method to predict future crimes so that the crimes can be prevented. This is called predictive policing. In this paper information technology will be discussed and how it is optimized in police departments to reduce different crimes.
Community partnerships is another method used by police in order to ensure a good relationship with members of the general public. The way this is done is through a process of consultation and mobilization. Consultaion works by providing citizens with information about crime and what can be done to prevent it. Also this gives citizens the chance to voice their concerns about crime and tell the police what they think about the job they are doing. Mobilization works by giving members of the community a chance to actively deter crime by being involved with such programs as Neighborhood Watch, Operation ID, or Crime Stoppers.
Branch Scenario: Unit 2 Brytnei Morris January 21st, 2014 CJ340: Applied Criminal Justice Ethics Branch Scenario: Unit 2 For this week’s Branch Scenario provided in Unit 1, we encountered a situation which occurs pretty often within the police department. The scenario starts off with myself beginning a new position granted to me as a narcotics detective assigned to a precinct with a rampant drug problem. At the first briefing performed, the squad commander insists that the unit’s “extraordinary” tactics were helping in the declining rate of street crimes and homicides. After the briefing, I ask my partner about the previous remark made about the new tactics used aiding in the decreased rates. My partner explains that occasionally, the unit must plant evidence to arrest top-level dealers and use force to gain information from suspects.
Basic System of Criminal Justice System This week we began to learn the basics of the criminal justice system. Which by definition is a system that provides solutions to the crime problem and helps shape the direction of crime policy. The criminal justice system protects the people, keeps things going in an orderly fashion, makes sure that the people are following the law, most importantly prosecutes the people who decide to break the law and keep the people safe. On a very basic level there are three essential parts of the criminal justice system: law enforcement, the court system and corrections. Law enforcement finds and investigates the crimes, such as police officers, detectives, investigators, dispatchers and duty officers.
Answers are not uttered with the simplicity of "yeah" or "ok", but “sir yes sir" and “sir never sir". The very credo of JROTC demands respect at all times, and being able to give that respect means to be a good follower. After becoming a good follower, conversion to a LET 2 meant that I was given the responsibility of leading others. In this new position, I realized that patience is a requirement when dealing with others. It was now my responsibility to show others how to become leaders.
