Traditional and Online Education Nikki Jackson Everest University Online Composition 1101-25 What are the benefits of education? Are the benefits greater than, less than, or equal for traditional learning as opposed to online learning? With new technology come new opportunities, especially in relation to education and learning. There are various forms of learning available to complete the conquest of obtaining an education and degree. Traditional education, attending classes on a college campus, and attending classes online from home, are two of the most popular sources for furthering education. With there being educational options, there are also educational choices to be considered. Studies, statistics, and success stories are all impressive factors that suggest to the importance and benefits of education; however, everyone’s idea of success and benefits may differ. Over 70 percent of students of various ages entering college stated that the primary benefit they hoped to obtain through their education was to be able to get a better job and to be able to make more money. Better jobs and more money are obvious benefits of education, and are essential to properly taking care of ourselves and those we care about. (Sheffield, Montgomery, & Moody, 2006) But what about the things that still need time and attention while striving to get an education to obtain a better job? While education certainly enables the ability to do so, there are also difficulties that may arise in daily life that may cause a conflict with education. A resolution to many of these conflicts can be solved by choosing the appropriate form of learning for one’s lifestyle. Both traditional and online learning provides the variety in time, flexibility, study options, and staff assistance needed to achieve educational goals.
