The lamb on Father Paul’s door is a symbol of Jesus, but it also represents the fact that Teofilo was a shepherd. The reference to the Catholic church's ‘‘twin bells from the King of Spain’’ is important as it points to the history of the Pueblo's initial encounter with Christianity. The holy water symbolizes cleansing, blessing in the Catholic Church, but in this story it’s used

Along with its importance they also go further by promoting the believer’s baptism over infant baptism. They begin by attacking the Christian claim found among many that baptism is a trivial issue. They quickly negate this statement with an alternate point of view, that Christians who suffered persecution and martyrdom did not believe it to be so. Summary Placing aside the foreword and introduction, there are ten chapters or sections to this book.
Through the divinity and humanity of the Christ, Christians and believers share the stories through word of mouth. The Son of God is also evident from the sacred texts of the Gospel testimonies which include the wonders and recoveries on people achieved by Jesus, and from the witness to his death, resurrection and ascension into heaven by his followers and other eyewitnesses. The beliefs of the divinity recognise his relationship to God as Son. Jesus’s divinity showed Jesus’ role to be the salvation of humanity and to resurrect and rise to defeat death. In the Gospel of John 1:14 “The Word became
During the middle ages, people still used Galen’s ideas and Dioscorides book of herbal cures, along with religion. When the Romans left Britain, it became a Christian society, so rather than looking to a myriad of gods, people prayed and worshipped one God. People also started to blame the devil for illness. With this change in religion came new ideas on how to stop and cure disease. A group of people, known as flagellants would whip themselves and torture themselves, in the belief that if they punished themselves god would not need to punish them with disease or illness.
Baptism is the sacrament in which, by water and the word of God, a person is cleansed of all sin and reborn and sanctified in Christ to everlasting life (CatholicCulture.org). Salvation, eternal life after death, the purification of all sins, and the significance of the Holy Trinity are all Christian beliefs that are demonstrated throughout the sacrament of Baptism. Christians believe that baptism is the first step one must take in order to achieve salvation although many fundamental Christian denominations believe baptism is all that is necessary to achieve it. Catholics believe that baptism is the first hurdle that one takes in order to attain salvation although they accept the teaching of Romans 10:12 which states that one does not need to be baptised to receive salvation they just have to believe in Christ Jesus: "For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile - the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him”. They particularly stress that salvation is accomplished through faith in the Trinity, action and Baptism.

The Model of Christian Charity’s tone is more comforting and with great reason, Winthrop was trying to establish a loving comradely between the colonist. This is evident when he says that “all true Christians are of one body in Christ.” Then he compares each person to a body part and according to the sermon “The ligaments of this body are knit together by love. (Lauter 336) ” Winthrop realized that in order for the colony to succeed he had to have the colonist working as one unit especially considering the imminent dangers they were facing in the New World. He also tries to satisfy the individual by addressing the colonist concerns with wealth and social status. Winthrop assures his colonist that being rich, or poor is all part of God’s plan and everyone has a purpose in that plan.
It is what it is and we just need to learn to go on with our lives. However, monotheists believe that “faith offers answers.” A Buddhist’s point of view is very straight forward and can be better summarized as “going with the flow.” A Jewish rabbi views the earthquake as “not one of endless devastation” and that “Jewish theology has focused more on what people can do to help each other.” The earthquake and tsunami in Japan has brought much attention to how Christians view such tragic events, and if it is related in any way to the coming of the apocalypse. Some Christians do consider it to be a sign that the “end of the world” is nearing but most Christians are sure that it cannot be determined through time because the Bible states so. Less than 1% of the Japanese population who reside in Japan are said to be Christians. And because of this many believe that they were punished by God.
