I feel that one major reason that SOX was controversial is that it cause many companies, that were following the rules and regulations, to go out of their way and change policy and procedure and potentially costing them more money. Overall I think that the SOX act was a needed to help protect millions of investors, and to shed some light on what is actually taking place within a company financially. SOX may have not been an ideal situation for many companies but the act is well in favor for the
Its profit oriented objectives resulted unethical activities and $200,000 penalty. Consumers are making decisions based on the advertisements. The misleading/false advertising will lead the consumers to make wrong decisions. This action is also monopolistic behavior, which is unethical and limited by the competition act. The monopolistic behavior could affect the competition negatively and damage the smaller competitors.
Good morning everyone, today I will be speaking to you about the issue, Are speed cameras effective or not? I believe that speed cameras are ineffective because they are not efficient enough. They do not achieve their purpose, they can potentially be hazardous and should be removed from the roads or the government needs to generate another method that is more efficient. Speed cameras are often recognized as being inaccurate. * People are always complaining that they have been fined for something they were accused of doing.
1. From your understanding of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, explain how you feel it may negatively affect America’s stock exchanges. The higher than expected costs for many public companies caused some companies to abandon their public status. The costs of SOX compliance negatively affect companies, markets, investors, and economic growth. Fewer companies are willing to enter the market because of the SOX requirements that make going public too costly.
When the government decides to raise the tax rate this has a negative impact on Manchester United because this means they can not carry out given activities and this will prevent them from achieving their aims and objectives. If the corporation tax rises then this will mean Manchester United will have to pay a larger amount of tax on their over profit which will mean they will not be able to afford quality players and this will effect their match performance. By not being able to afford quality players this prevents Man U from achieving their aim which is to be the best team in the world! If Manchester can not afford best players due to high taxes then simply they will not win matches and lose their reputation. The most important legal factor for Manchester united is the company law.
Economic costs of inflation- Inflations economic costs would include damage to competitiveness as high inflation could cause spiralling price multiplier effect; as prices go up workers would demand higher wages so increasing business costs and another round of price rises to maintain business profits- making exports for expensive, thus reducing the demand for them causing a decrease and AD domestically. Additionally this may lead to unemployment as more costs to the firm i.e. menu costs. Change in inflation could also cause uncertainty to consumers/businesses to spend and invest as they don’t know what the future holds, this can decrease confidence in the market and potentially, in the longer term, cause and reduction in AD. Economic costs of deflation- deflation has proved to have several economic costs, the main cost is that it encourages differed expenditure where people’s expectations change and they delay spending in the hope of getting a better deal.
When President Barack Obama took office, he was faced with the grim reality that two of America’s largest car manufactures were near extinction. His administration responded to this reality by enacting a plan to circumvent this fate. Today, the administration’s course of action is still a contested topic, and many Americans continue to argue whether the auto bailout was in the best interest of America. The President recognized
Lack of equipment could’ve been one of factors that contributed to our errors. During this lab, we only had access to one spatula. Due to the lack of time we continued to use this one spatula despite the fact that it may not be cleaned properly and could still be dirty. The dirty spatula could’ve caused our results to be inaccurate because the different samples could’ve mixed causing the color of the flames emitted to vary. Another error that we made was due to lack of equipment once again.
Wal-Mart workers filed 30 counts of unfair labor practice with the National labor Relations Board (NLRB). The representations alleged “widespread and egregious attempts by Wal-Mart to silence e workers who have been calling for a change of course at the company” (Our Wal-Mart files over 30 New Counts of Unfair Labor Practices Against Wal-Mart for Attempts to Silence Associates, 2013). These example show that of a US organizations that still continue to abuse labor practices both within our country as well as internationally. Although at times these companies have faced tarnished images, these businesses continue to reap profits while executives and stock holders swim in the benefits. Some common items that we buy that are made in sweatshops are shoes, clothes, coffee, and
