Klaudia Iwulska, gr. A Tourist Attractions in Niepołomice Niepołomice is a beautiful town with many sights of interest to tourists. These range from magnificent historic buildings, such as 14th century Parish Church or neo-Gothic Town Hall, to the seventh largest forest complex in Poland, each holding its own particular charm. Two of the most important tourist sights, however, are visited by visitors most often. Possibly the most significant place to visit is a stone castle built in the mid 14th century by King Casimir the Great. Together with the flowery courtyard called “Queen Bona’s Gardens” still continues to amaze tourists and guests. Today the castle serves as a cultural and business centre of the town. Furthermore, it is a venue for concerts, business conferences, exhibitions, wedding receptions and banquets. In the attic there is a hotel with 24 rooms. The castle also houses the Lech Wałęsa Conference Centre. Also worth visiting is Niepołomice Forest which occupies an area of about 120 square kilometers between the Vistula and Raba rivers. The name "Niepołomice" is thought to derive from the Old Polish word "niepołomny" which meant "impassable" or "indestructible". The forest complex with European Bison Reservoir is well renowned in Poland and the European Union. Moreover, it has been declared a Nature 2000 site. There are many pedestrian and equestrian trails as well as a 7 km long cycling route. Most visitors to London go to see the castle and Niepołomice Forest during they stay for the reason that these two particular attractions symbolize Niepołomice and its history. Moreover, they are probably one of the most photographed sites, immediately preceded by Cracov’s tourist attractrions, in this part of Lesser Poland.
