It soon became a vehicle to aid communities in development and revitalization. In the article “Greening the Rust Belt,” Joseph Schilling and Jonathan Logan quote F.S Alexander as saying, “Land banks are typically governmental or quasi-public entities that convert vacant, abandoned and tax-delinquent properties to productive reuse.”(458). Family of Woodstock, Inc. Paper BSHS/355 November 3, 2014 This paper will discuss the factors that led the founders to create the Family of Woodstock as well as discuss how they were dedicated to accomplish meeting the needs of the community. Moreover, the discussion will include information on how the values, attitudes, and beliefs of the organization developed and changed over a 40-year period, and how the changes have affected the way they deliver services. The exploitation of these countries on the pleasure periphery has been interpreted by some commentators as a form of neocolonialism, although few tourists would analyse their own behaviour in such a stark manner. Second, individual holiday choices made amongst complex status hierarchies of destinations can also be understood as conspicuous consumption, especially when considered in terms of ego-enhancement motivation and trip-dropping. However, it can be demonstrated that tourism motivation is not just materialistic, but reflects a wide range of other psychological and cultural factors. Furthermore, postmodern tourism is said to break down traditional boundaries and replace them with a universe in which image, illusion and irony predominate (see also postmodernism).

Community development has evolved significantly, too, but perhaps not at the same pace as the underlying problems it set out to address. The incidence, location, and socioeconomic characteristics of poverty have shifted dramatically in some cases. These changes highlight a series of challenges for the future of place-based initiatives that aim to alleviate poverty, enhance economic mobility, and ultimately ensure that no one is severely disadvantaged by where they
