TMA4 Block 3 covers issues about involving local people in planning and/or running community based health and social care projects. Using Examples from Block 3, discuss how local involvement helps to make care services more responsive to local needs and explain some challenges in achieving it. Delia Haque – SC ‘A social network consists of a set of people with whom one maintains contact and has some form of social bond.’ (K101, Unit 10, p75). This means that a social network is a group of people with which a person has regular interaction with such as family, friends, neighbours or work colleagues. In this essay it will show that a healthy neighbourhood can provide a focus for improving the health and well-being of the community by discussing both the negative and positive impacts on its residents. In this essay will also discuss the Thornhill Plus You programme which was set up to address neighbourhood concerns in poor health indices, low educational attainment, low skills and anti-social behaviour. This essay will now continue on to investigate the kind of people that need care services help and what limitations care workers should take into consideration. And we also will look in the study case of Mina Ali to answer the part B of the essay-Supporting people to use community resources. Family and friends can offer informal support such as Practical help and advice with things like childcare or household topics and chores. Emotional support if an individual is undergoing feelings of uncertainty or personal difficulties, and financial help by lending money for debts, everyday living or perhaps advice on spending.
