The story seems to be told by an adult Scout telling the events of her childhood. The woman telling the story obviously recognises the fact that her father is exceptional. Despite this, the child Scout complains that her father is boring. "Our father didn't do anything . .
I am also the only daughter in a family of four children, which effected on my life so much. From experience of both Cisneros and I, I think that the differences between our parents and us not only frustrated, but also motivated us to succeed. Cisneros was “the only daughter in a family of six sons” (Cisneros 620), so “[her father’s] only ambition for his daughter was marriage” (620); whereas, she was very interested in studying, especially in writing. This difference not only discouraged her, but also motivated her to achieve. Cisneros have loved studying since she was a little girl.

From ages 10-12 i started cutting i just felt that when i cut it releases the pain from my life. i had friends that made my childhood better yes i did, but i forgot about them soon enough. my best friend was Ashley, she just made me smile everyday, the most surprising thing for me is that Ashley was beautiful like a model, she actually was a child model for a store and i was always there when she was on her photo shoots, we wanted to do it together but they said they had enough kid models but i didn't belive that, they didn't need an ugly chubby child like me, i still just kept cheering for Ashley every time. Every guy in 6th grade had a crush on her, they wanted her to date them but she said she would not date till she was old enough, and with the right person her "prince charming" i just wanted anyone to like me just anyone, i even had a phase where i changed how i looked like into wearing makeup from my mum's stuff, the teacher got concerned and called her in, this is where it started i thought my life was miserable, that everyone hated me, that no one understood how i felt, as you might have guessed my mum yelled at me and grounded me for a month. That, that was when i started building up anger in me every day, to get rid of some anger i cut.
”My sister’s the one who’s always had to imagine life without me”. Kate was selfless to come up with a plan so that her sister could live a normal life. Sara Fitzgerald is also brave because she never gave up with everything going wrong in her life she continued on strong. I agree with her decision throughout the book; I too would have done anything to keep my loved one alive. “My daughter has leukemia and needs a bone marrow transplant; the hospital explained that our insurance company needs to sign off on coverage.” Sara is desperately trying to get her daughter the help she needs but no one is trying to help her.
“Living alone and impotent in an inimical world.” The person I choose to reflect my theory on is Shantay Fields. She is not my biological sister, but my mother has raised her since she was a baby and my mother is all she knew. So, I consider her being my biological sister since my mother raised her. I chose Shantay above others because she is an outstanding single mother to a smart, wonderful, and bright sixteen year old daughter by the name of Tatyana Fields. She had her daughter at a young age and with no help from her father, she did it all by herself.
She picked on Connie for being pretty, “what the hell stinks? Hair spray? You don’t see your sister using that junk” (225). Her mother and aunt always praised June, she was a plain, chunky twenty-four year old still living at home and was a secretary at Connie’s high school. Her father was always working, he was never home.
