Almost everyone who live in Syktyvkar resort to the help of public transport. More than that, almost no one is pleased by their trips. In my opinion, a city bus is one of the worst features of urban life. First of all, the buses have their own schedule. I mean not the schedule they are supposed to follow, but their own one. That might be really upsetting, when you wait for the bus and it’s 30 below zero. When you are in a hurry, the bus never comes and you’ll probably be late. Moreover, on weekends the bus time-table is really atrocious. The interval is so extended that you can visit a supermarket while waiting for the bus. Secondly, buses are full most of the time. When you go to work or back from it, because it’s rush hours. People, who live at the beginning of the bus rout, are lucky – they can always choose which place to take. I can recall a lot of episodes, how I was “brought” into the bus, and I think I’m not a loner. Though the bus can contain at about 50 people, it’s always seems like there are something about 100. You can’t move, say that someone is standing on your foot and even breathe. Well, bus is not a good place for the beginning of a good day. Finally, the main thing why a city bus is a hell is their heating system. It usually works this way: it’s 30 below zero outside and 20 below inside. The heater, which is turned on won’t make any difference. There are three places that are heated – at the beginning of the cabin, at the end, and near the driver. So, when the driver feels hot, he turns off the heater and you are frozen. Nevertheless, things can be utterly opposite: the driver is chilling, the heater is on and you a wearing a fur-coat. So, never mind if you’ve taken a shower in the morning, when you get off the bus, you need it again.
