Smith, Khatara English 091 1.27.12 Journal: What are three characteristics that you look for in a friend? When I decide I want to develop a friendship with a person there are three essential traits that person must possess. Those traits are trustworthiness, dependability, and personality. These characteristics are important because without them I could be befriending an enemy. Moreover if a person does not possess these qualities I don’t feel I can honestly consider them as a friend. To begin with I look for trustworthiness. If a person is trustworthy I know I can share my apprehensions and vulnerabilities with them without them judging, or having prejudice thoughts. Also if a person is trustworthy anything personal that I disclose to them will not be repeated to anyone else. A trustworthy person will not steal or take anything that belongs to me without my permission. Secondly I look for dependability. For one thing a dependable or reliable friend would never forsake you in your time of need. Despite what the circumstances maybe a real friend will be right beside you right or wrong nevertheless. In addition if you need someone to talk to you will be able to depend on your friend to be there to listen to you. Last of all I look at a person’s personality. I’m a fun loving person so I love to be around fun loving people. If a person’s personality is not a suitable fit with mine there is no way possible I will be able to cope. It’s imperative that my friends are humorous because I personally like to joke. I and that person must have similar traits or something in common that we both can relate and converse about, otherwise there maybe complications.
