The FBI and The Bureau of Tobacco and Fire Arms failed to recognize the nature of millenarian beliefs because David Koresh viewed his delusions as reality of life. I think that the government didn’t think the beliefs are real because the beliefs were bizarre. Also, another reason the government didn’t take the Davidians serious because they were in cult. The ATF contributed that this event was a lot of troubles that caused a lot of people to die for a good purpose. Likewise in the First Amendment people want the government to take religious beliefs very serious in order to not cause another epidemic from happening
Some of the poor probably had to steal items to keep them afloat, whether it was food, money, or Valuable items and of course if you steal you are already breaking one of god’s rules and they know that you are the devil as the bible leads them to believe. The economic factor did have an impact but it wasn’t as big as the social and religious factor. In truth there were many more factors that contributed to the Salem witch Trials, although I believe they were farfetched. The most likely factor to contribute was the religious factor, which did not allow the puritans to explore ideas outside their church and bible. The social factor was their inability to be a whole community and to know their whereabouts of their neighbor s. The differences in income between them and their neighbors and the amount of taxes each paid took some toll
In the 16th century the church played a huge role in the lives of people in Europe, however, in some parts and Germany in particular, the Church was seen as not responding to the appetite for spiritual fulfillment and failing in some of its duties. The Church was involved not just spiritually but economically, politically and educationally; therefore, any corruption within the Church had consequences all over Christendom. The role of the Church was to perform the seven sacraments in order for Catholics to reach their goal – salvation. Firstly, the Church was resented because it was corrupt. This was resented in Germany because it seemed hard to obtain salvation and live a spiritual life when the representatives of Christianity were dishonest.
This is demonstrated in documents 4, 5, and 6. Henry Haskell states that “The government undertook such far-reaching responsibility in affairs that the fiber of the citizens weakened” (Document 4) This shows that the decline of the empire was due to heavy taxation that couldn’t support the government. If the taxes couldn’t sustain the government then it wouldn’t be able to control the people. According to Montanelli “The military crisis was the result of… proud old aristocracy’s… shortage of children” (Document 5) This means that many children weren’t old enough to go into the military which caused the decrease of soldiers. With the lack of soldiers, it would be easier to invade Rome, which could’ve led to the decline of the Empire.
Certainly these changes were massive, quite abrupt and differed drastically from the norm; however that does not necessarily make them bad. Except, that is how they are viewed by many historians today. The historian N.Reeves believes Akhenaten was unsuccessful, but more in his religion reforms. 'For ordinary folk, there is little doubt that Akhenaten's actions as king over time inflicted the greatest misery: the people were confused by the man's religious vision, frightened by the ruthless manner in which it was imposed and quite likely appalled by his personal behaviour.' Reeves believe that the changes would have confusing and scary for the common people.
Ubuntu or umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu is a key concept in creating a classroom consciousness that stands to aid one another in growth as opposed to standing alone and seeking only individual best interests. Ubuntu means: a human being is a human being through others. This is true as human beings learn everything we know through other human beings. It would be my task as the teacher to encourage other learners to allow this individual to feel more at ease with his humanity. Especially since Africa has such a vast amount of ethnicities and cultures.
Even though he believe in God it still goes to show that there still may be some form of physical or verbal conflicts when two different types of religion people believe in a different “GOD”. In the speeches I read both individuals talked about what happened in their country as far as war. It felt like you can actual visualize that was going on in their time frame. • Why is that imagery effective or ineffective? Yes the imagery was very effective because although each individual believe in a type of “GOD” they still seem to have problems during their time frame.
Christianity and Islam’s Attitudes on Merchants and Trade Christianity and Islam’s attitudes towards merchants and trade were that they discourage people for becoming rich, emphasize trade as if it’s a good thing for society, and tolerate it as long as it’s fair. Documents #1 and #4 shows how Christianity is different in their attitude towards merchants and trade than Islam in that they discouraged people or society for becoming rich and wealthy which were mostly the merchants. Matthew, (1) author of the book of “Matthew” in the New Testament, wrote that a rich man has a hard time entering heaven and discourages wealthy people for their inability to inherit the Kingdom of God. He probably had this point of view because he wanted to reach out to the poor people who were more open to his message and accept Christianity. It was a new religion in that time and he wanted more people to join and spread his religion everywhere.
The Church could not provide sufficient reasons for why the plague had occurred, which lead to the assumption that God was punishing mankind of their sins. It was during the Bubonic Plague that anger toward the Roman Catholic Church and the persecution of Jews intensified. The church played an important role in the lives of the people of the 13th and 14th Centuries, and it was forced
Medieval Europe was run by petty lords, counts, and kings, and the only unifying institution was the Catholic Church. Authority was vested in men without efficient means to enforce their authority. Power was in the hands of those with money and force. This instability of institutions led to a rise in individual violence, as demonstrated with the murder of Charles the Good. Some may believe that the violence of this period was brought upon by the secular institutions, but the mere lack of these institutions proved to be the true cause.
