‘We see examples of design throughout the natural world and conclude that an intelligent designer is clearly demonstrated.’- Assess whether this argument succeeds. Because of the complex nature of the world and the ability of things to fill such a specific purpose, we can conclude that this cannot be merely coincidence. We can infer that an intelligent designer such as God has created the universes and everything in them because of this. I will seek to prove that this argument does not succeed and that there are in fact alternative explanations for what a theist would see as ‘intelligent design’. The design argument was formulated by Paley.
Justice of Creation Victor Frankenstein created a living, thinking, and intelligent creature, and with that comes certain responsibilities. Even though he should not have tried to “play God” and create someone that is the same, in all but physical appearance to other human beings. I’d like to discuss Victor creating the creature, the responsibilities that he should have accepted when he created him, and the consequences of the aforementioned decisions. First, Victor Frankenstein, or any other person on this earth at any time, has absolutely no right or power to create life. There is a relatively strong connection to God in this book and many people during this time period believed in God.
Similarly, William Paley, strongly believed that the observation of the intricate complexity of the universe concludes that there must be a creator. Paley believed that this creator was God. In ‘Natural Theology’, he used the analogy of the watch to his ideas. He explained that if you came across an intricately designed watch, you could conclude that watch was not made by chance and was designed with purpose and placed there. For Paley, the different parts of watch work perfectly together to fulfil a purpose.
This shows that the body must have been made or created through intelligent design rather than the sluggish pace of evolution. Another being all in existence falling under specified complexity, this means that all objects and organisms have such complexity which is so great that they must have been specified only by God. Also they have been created in a specific way so it only works in the way that it was initially brought into existence, there is no other way of explaining this that through an intelligent designer. For example the human eye, manages to capture light that bounces off an object and making humans able to see. If any part of the eye were different the eye would no longer function the way as we know it and humans may no longer be able to see the way they do as we
Young earth Old earth Liberty University Mr. David Gilhousen Jo Ann Head PHSC 210 Fall Introduction Knowledge of the past and present makeup of the universe solicits factorial seen evidence and faith based beliefs driven by scripture and belief systems. “Almost everyone living today takes for granted that the universe and earth are billions of years old. But that has not always been true and the number of people rejecting that idea today is increasing rapidly.” (Mortenson, 2003) Proving the existence or the non-existence of time creation is still relevant in today’s society. Scripture tells us but science shows us, accepting answers is primarily based on one’s belief system no
Catholic people think that if you believe in God miracles seem more obvious to you and if you deny and test the existence of God then it will be harder to see the miracles happen. If God really is behind all of the natural laws, he is not restricted by them therefore He is allowed to violate them from time to time. This also contradicts the fact that God is omnibenevolant and defeats the saying that ‘all humans are equal’. There are a lot of problems with using miracles to prove Gods existence, some say that one person’s miracle is not one to another person, we have some sort of scientific explanations to miracles that happened in the bible, so in the future we could have explanations to miracles that
Craig is that which concerns the fine tuning of the universe itself and everything that would have had to happen simply by chance if there was no God. His argument basically states that since it does not seem possible that the universe and more specifically human life have appeared simply out of necessity or by chance, then it points to the belief that there is some intelligent being that is responsible for the creation of basically everything. The numbers that he presented to show how small of a chance there is that all the factors concerning human life’s existence came into line by chance, were all quite convincing. I have always had the idea that there is something responsible for why things are the way they are. This seems like the most convincing argument as to
It didn’t just happen. Design implies designer. The Design argument is an argument from order and design to God as the explanation for this order and design. It is one of the most popular arguments, which supports the existence of God as the creator. Design argument is also known as Teleological argument, meaning that everything in this world has a purpose to it.
“Science is right & religion is wrong.” I personally, believe that this statement is not correct. This is because, there are some phenomenons in this world and in this universe that science can’t explain but religion however can- an example of this is would be the Mayan civilization; They predicted many of the natural disasters that came to be and they were far more advanced than us. This clearly proves that science is not always right and religion is not always wrong. Most Muslims would contradict this statement. This is due to the fact that Muslims believe that we (Humanity) are in the progress of learning and that we will come to understand the truth one day.
Leo Philosophy Essay Does time really exist? “Time and tides wait for no man”, this is a quote well known for it's emphasis on time. It raises attention on time that we do not have much of it so needing us to use it as efficiently as possible. However have we questioned such quotations and really pursued what time is and it's real meaning for us? The definition of time has eluded many great scholars but it's application has been developed in all fields of science, religion and philosophy.
