What Was Agreed At The Wannsee Conference In January 1942? The Wannsee Conference was held in a lakeside villa (at 56–58 Am Groben, Wannsee) in January 1942, where key leaders and officers were invited to discuss the method of the extermination of the Jewish people in the Ghettos, concentration camps and death camps. The people who attended this meeting were: Reinhard Heydrich (Chief of the RSHA), who held the meeting, Adolf Eichmann (Head of Referat IV B4 of the Gestapo, Recording secretary) who also lead the meeting and 13 other VIPs in the Nazi Party. These people were all asked to attend the meeting as they were very high up the hierarchy and to find a final, more practical solution for the Jewish question. At the Wannsee Conference it was decided that the existing methods of dealing with the Jews in Russia were too inefficient and that a new ‘Final Solution’ or ‘more efficient system’ was necessary. Before this meeting they took every person and executed them individually but it was seen that this method was wasting too much ammunition and was too expensive to carry out on a large scale base. Instead of this, the atendees decided to use a poisonous gas that they had invented to suffocate the jews and to save money on the mass destruction of Jews which they planned on carrying out. At this meeting the Delegates did not speak directly of what was going to happen because of the horror that the Jews were going to go through, even though they were all anti-Semitic. When the Nazi army were taking the people to be exterminated they said that women, children, the old and the sick were to be sent for ‘special treatment.’ So that they wouldn’t know what was going to happen but some hade a fair idea. In preparation for the conference, Eichmann drafted a list of the numbers of Jews in the various European countries. Countries were listed in two groups "A" and "B". "A"
