Vocabulary can be defined as ‘the body of words used in a particular language.’ Language is so much a part of human activity that it is easily taken for granted, it is essential for capturing and communicating thought and experience. I am using language, right now, to facilitate my expression of thought and opinions through communication, different interpretations, expressing feelings and learning. Language is absolutely sufficient to communicate what we know or think. Although, one of the most central problems is that the meaning of a word is its dictionary definition. Meanings of words must be explained using other words therefore we are unable to avoid being caved in by words. This shows that to some extent language and communication is essential to shape what we can know as we are have the ability converse and share thoughts and ideas through words that we understand. So, since most of our knowledge comes to us through language, we need to understand clearly the definition of each word so that we understand the information that is being communicated to us. If you know the meaning of a word, then you know how to use it correctly. Although, there are always going to be anomalies, for example, trying to describe the color pink to a blind girl. The meaning of a word is the mental image it stands for, and you know the meaning of a word when you have the appropriate concept in your mind, therefore describing a color to a blind person would be virtually impossible. However vocabulary is overseen by subjective rules and countries with different languages must make general agreements within their cultures for communication to work. For example, someone who has spoken English since birth will know automatically the connection between the word tree and what it stands for. It could of just as well have been Baum (German), árbol (Spanish) or peme (Albanian), but instead
