Usually people unite together to achieve common goals, to be more powerful, and to cope with difficulties. There are plenty of different organizations, and one of the most influential is United Nations.
It is known that the UN is the second multipurpose international organization in the 20th century that was worldwide in scope and membership. The establishment date is the 24th of October, 1945. The League of Nations, created by the Treaty of Versailles in 1919 and cancelled in 1946, was predecessor of UN. Headquartered of UN is situated in New York City, it also has offices in Geneva, Vienna, and other cities. Its official languages are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, and Spanish.
The UN organization has several aims which are saving succeeding generations from war, reaffirming faith in fundamental human rights, establishing conditions under which justice and respect for the obligations arising from treaties and other sources of international law can be maintained, promoting social progress and better standards of life in larger freedom.
These goals by my opinion are the most important in our life, especially for those who understand what the essence of war is. Safety and confidence in tomorrow’s day is what I consider to be significant in everyday life. The UN is this special organization which prohibits discrimination, provides education, fights with hunger and poverty, prevents conflicts, and makes future global plans. Who will protect us from catastrophes, diseases and war? We will be safe thanks to such kind of organizations.
Kurt Waldheim said: “I am convinced that the United Nations provides the best road to the future for those who have confidence in our capacity to shape our own fate on this planet.
