(Orwell 3) The first interaction I had with Winston Smith was at Two Minutes Hate. The crowd, along with me, were in a frenzy but when I looked over, Winston had a look of disgust of in his eyes. As a precautionary measure, I am going to carefully analyze Winston’s past recordings from his telescreen and monitor them in the future. April 27, 1984 After further digging on Winston, a few things have begun to alarm me. It is not Winston’s physical attributes that concern me; it is his intellect and body language.

Intro. To Ethics 6 March 2012 To the Editor: I wish to respond to Greg McNeal’s article, ”ESPN Uses ‘Chink in the Armor’ Line Twice”, published on Forbes.com. McNeal states that we need to gather our bearings because the Jeremy Lin inspired “Linsanity” phenomena has started to get ugly and I agree with him that we do. First, the on-air commentary was a few days before the headline came out but ESPN anchor Max Bretos was suspended for 30 days after using the phrase when asking New York Knicks legend Clyde Frazier if Lin had any “chinks in his armor”. Now having said that, the headline post along with the on-air commentary are both going to seem offensive when used to describe anything referring to a person of Asian decent.
The poster for Los Lunes al sol (Mondays in the Sun) proclaims, "This film is not based on a real story. It is based on thousands." Inspired by a major layoff at the boatyards of Gijón which led to the rioting shown under the opening credits, writer-director Fernando León de Aranoa transplants the story to contemporary Vigo, in northwest Spain, where the toll of unemployment rings as credibly today. That the filmmakers score the riot sequence to tender guitar and accordion music suggests the unconventional style of this low-key film, one both heartbreaking and funny. The film's most valuable player is Javier Bardem, the central figure in a group of middle-aged friends laid-off from a shipyard.
Many of Bradbury's works have been adapted into television shows or films. Ray Bradbury was born on August 22, 1920 in Waukegan, Illinois. He is currently 91 years old and he still writes different kinds of stories for people to read. C. A Book Review: Fahrenheit 451 is one of Bradbury's most famous books, and it reads like a fever dream -- intensely cinematic, directed by its own weird dream logic, and full of the quality of images that haunt you for days. The book is a cautionary tale about what happens when books are Forgotten or actively suppressed, and it forms one of its own best arguments in favour of the book as a keystone to intellectual freedom.
His voice is like butter. I’m afraid he’ll talk me back the other way I was. Only a week ago, pumping a kerosene hose, I thought: God, what fun!’”(Bradbury 85) With Faber's help, Montag returns to his job to confront Captain Beatty. Beatty recites many lines of several different works of literature, in attempt to change Montag back into a follower of society. Again, Beatty tries to bring Montag down one last time, his dying words are quoted from Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar: “There is no terror, Cassius, in your/ threats, for I am arm’d so strong in honesty that/ they pass me in an idle wind, which I respect not!” (Bradbury 119).
Ross and three stacks go in for eight minutes reminiscing on their own travels to the top. Three stacks verse surpasses Ross’ due to Andre’s depiction being more illustrated. Some say Rick Ross saves himself from redundancy on this album only because of the celebratory soundscapes of the J.U.S.T.I.C.E league. I deem that to be an untrue statement. “God Forgives, I don’t” only touches the surface of Ross’ fight to triumph.
Holden’s tone as he tells his story varies between disgust, cynicism, bitterness, and nostalgic longing. All in all this is an amazing book and if it was banned today then why would you do that when all of the stuff in the book is now on tv. It’s like what Lois Griffen says on the opening of the TV show Family Guy “It seems today that all you see in violence in movies and sex
Dylan Yates December 2, 2012 Writing about Literature Final Exam In the stories “The Tell Tale Heart” and “The Cask of Amontillado” you can see a lot of similarities and can definitely tell both are written Poe. Both stories have narrators who are bent on harming another human being. Both narrators start off by giving reasons why they are going to do the harm to the human being. They are telling the stories first-hand and both stories end with the victim’s death. In "The Tell-Tale Heart" the narrator tells about the old man’s staring and vacant eye, In "The Cask of Amontillado the narrator talks about "thousands of injuries" and "insult" that Fortunado had given Montresor over the years.
Sean Gillis Professor Montagne ENC 1102.055 9 February 2012 Kurt Vonnegut Jr’s “Harrison Bergeron” tells the story of a stark dystopia in which the Bergeron’s live in. This story, much like George Orwell’s “1984”, creates terrible and unimaginable contrasts to the world we live in today. The world Vonnegut creates shows how the world would be if every man, woman and child was equal via the implementation of “handicaps”. Vonnegut explains, “The year was 2081, and everyone was finally equal. .
