The Strength of Harry Potter It is said that some people are born strong, and others become stronger throughout their life. In Harry Potter’s case, he was born strong, and is still getting stronger. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, written by J.K Rowling, is a novel written about a twelve year old boy who lives a horrible life up until the day he finds out that he is a great wizard. The strength and stability of a person comes from their experiences, and J.K Rowling presents Harry Potter’s mental and physical strength in the form of his past, his present, and his future. Harry Potter was born into a family of wizards, but when he was only a baby his parents were killed by the dark wizard, Lord Voldemort. Harry had almost been killed by Voldemort as well, but miraculously he survived, and was left with nothing but a memory of his parents and a scar on his forehead the shape of a lightning bolt. Dumbledore, the Headmaster of Hogwarts the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry where Harry’s parents had once attended, was very close to Harry’s parents and when they passed away he had no choice but to give Harry to his only relatives: the Dursley’s. These people were the most rude, selfish, ungrateful human-beings possible, and Harry was stuck with them. Anything to do with magic they detested and they would never allow for it to get out that they had a witch for a sister, and now had a wizard for a nephew. They kept Harry hidden, and he lived in a small closet underneath the stairs where he would spend all of his time alone. The Dursley’s never spoke of Harry’s parents; they never even gave him a photograph. To Harry’s knowledge they passed away in a car accident, because that was the one and only thing they had ever told him. Harry was neglected and poorly treated throughout his life, and he shows that living with his unfit aunt and uncle who only break him
