“Is an online degree as well accepted as a traditional degree in the eyes of an employer?” This question is asked by almost everyone interested in or currently in a distance learning program. Unfortunately, the answer is not encouraging for those already enrolled in online classes. The acceptance of online degrees depends on several factors, many of them out of the student’s realm of control – company, industry, the type of degree, the level of the degree (undergraduate vs. graduate), and last but not least, the reviewer himself. Employers often worry about the validity of a degree from an unfamiliar school. The Human Resources Departments throughout the country are well aware of institutions that will grant a degree based on “life-experiences” for a nominal fee or for-profit schools that offer degree programs.
Once kids start playing more than around 1 hour of video games on a daily basis it starts to become second nature to play video games. Kids start to almost rely on it because whenever kids aren’t doing something they have to do they’re 75% of the time playing video games and that’s no good! When kids are to the point where they rely on or need video games it starts to become all they do and it takes over they’re social life. Kids shouldn’t even play enough where they get to the point where they play all the time, but once you’re addicted it’s hard to stop which is why kids shouldn’t start playing in the first place. If you play
For example, many of us weren’t really use to studying during high school, mainly because it was so unchallenging. But through college you are going to have to make some changes in your life. You are going to take those classes that require memorizing long formulas and theories, and that will take more of your time. During the process of college you are going to have to learn how to take care of yourself regardless of your parent’s being there for you or not. Responsibility will play a big role during this time of your life.
Some teachers have a strict no cell phone policy. There are many reasons for this; one of them is teachers believe that cell phones are a major distraction during class. They believe there is a time for technology and while they are lecturing is not one of those times. Another con is not all students can afford a cell phone. It would be unfair for teachers to use cell phones most of the time because not all students have that ability.
Many actions have led me to believe that technology is limiting human interactions. When I went to a public school, almost all of the kids during class were on their cell phones playing games, or texting someone that was 1 foot away from them. What ever happened to passing notes in class? Most teenagers can’t communicate with other people as well as they used to, because technology allows them to hide from real life problems. Online chat sites are another way technology is working its magic.
Students could often feel challenged and nervous about writing a research paper on evolution. There is a dearth of appropriate information on the internet on evolution research papers and students who rely heavily on the internet could face some troubles. However, rather than being anxious about writing a research paper on evolution, students should begin their study and research on the given topic. Evolution research paper will follow the same structure and format like all other research papers. As such, students should begin their evolution research paper writing by creating an outline.
College vs. High School By Erika Clough Many students, especially those who do not have a family member who has been to college, believe college is pretty much like high school, only bigger. In today’s modern society the two most popular forms of education are a high school education and a college education. More people than ever are striving to better themselves by achieving some form of college education. To be prepared, it helps to know what differences lay ahead. Though academic requirements and student life vary depending on the college you attend, there are basic differences that apply in almost every case.
It is not uncommon for children to carry laptops or similar devices in their backpacks, but what happens to the children whose families simply cannot afford this luxury, which seems to becoming a necessity. With the advancements in technology, and the growing use of computers in schools, under privileged American children are suffering more and more from the digital divide. “Pencil to paper may soon be a thing of the past for students,” (Canan, 2011). Students across the country are becoming more and more dependent upon computers and the internet to get their school work done. Not too many years ago, it was not uncommon to see children turning in hand written assignments, but in today’s society it seems having computer access both at school and at home is a necessity.
The human mind, as powerful as it is, gets tarnished daily by the use of technology. Thinking for oneself has become a sporadic concept, and many, without realizing it, go straight to technology for answers to their questions without first consulting their most powerful tool they possess which sits right behind their eyes. Technology has the ability to help people in many ways in fields such as medicine, academics, and sports; however, digital technologies also have several negatives to go along with its positives. The internet is both distracting from priorities, decreases the likelihood that one thinks for himself, and modify humans’ lives altogether. Technology has the power to prevent humans from using their critical thinking skills.
The students in my class are using the Internet more which concerns me with the student who is visually impaired. I have been accommodating this student in my classroom by making enlarged copies of his worksheets and textbook to help him with his work. I also put his notes, quizzes and tests on disks so he can complete them on his laptop computer. We have been working with Internet Workshops, Internet Projects, Internet Inquiries, and WebQuests recently in my Science classes. Recently, we have working on the WebQuest “Recycle City”.
