The Rental Heart The short story ”The Rental Heart”, by Kirsty Logan, is the story about a guy, which gets his heart broken a lot, which causes him to go down to the ”Heart Rental Store”, so he can forget about his sadness and pain, by renting a new heart to replace the “broken” heart. In this short story there is being used a first-person narration. In my interpretation of the short story, I have interpreted the main character as being a male bi-sexual. I see him as a male mainly because, we as readers do not hear a lot about the feelings connected to his relationships. If it had been a female narration, the feeling would have been a lot more in focus. The bi-sexual interpretation of the main character is very clear to me, when he talks about his different relationships, with for instance: Grace, Will and Anna. Whenever the main character talks about his feeling being hurt, or relationships being ruined, he always walks down to the “heart rental place” to replace his heart. My interpreted symbol of broken machinery comes from the romantic cliché “to have
