enAngela Don ENC 1101 Prewrite Narrative 9-11-12 “The Day I Stole a Candy Bar” As a young and curious child, parents have always told their little wreck ball never to wander around the grocery store, to always stick by them like chewing gum, and if need to be, always graspingly holding their hand. There is never a guarantee that the child will ever comply with this rule willingly. It requires a set form of disobedience or a life changing experience to set a child. This is the perfect example of the day I stole a candy bar at Publix Supermarket. Spring break was very hectic.
They may be any emotion: love, fear, patriotism, guilt, hate, joy, etc. In this ad sarcasm is being used to grab the viewer’s attention. There is no real island of Misfit toys, but there are toys that used to be cool at one time and don’t get played with anymore because there are new, cooler toys out. Ethos refers to the trustworthiness of the speaker or writer. When we believe that the speaker or writer does not intend to do us harm, we are more willing to listen to what they have to say.
I did everything I could do to make her feel better. It is funny to think of the interests I had as a kid. It just never struck me what I could do with the fact that I loved taking care of others. I believe it started when my grandpa had his third heart condition back in May of last year. Seeing what he was going through was something hard to understand and all I knew was that I would never want to be his situation.
He starts clapping and jumping up and down screaming, "Baaaneeyyy". Anderson (2006) claimed that young children have a difficult time telling the difference between fantasy and reality, they are highly susceptible to the socializing effects of television, especially those shows on children's television channels and animated programs (p. 287). I am so pleased to see how happy Landen is. He even knows what remotes he needs to turn on Barney. When he is ready to watch Barney, he will grab the remotes and bring them to me.
The Lottery by Shirley Jackson Text|Response| Because so much of the ritual had been forgotten or discarded, Mr. Summers had been successful in having slips of paper substituted for the chips of wood that had been used for generations. The original paraphernalia for the lottery had been lost long ago, and the black box now resting on the stool had been put into use even before Old Man Warner, the oldest man in town, was born. Mr. Summers spoke frequently to the villagers about making a new box, but no one liked to upset even as much tradition as was represented by the black box. ...; they tended to gather together quietly for a while before they broke into boisterous play.|Both of these text from the short story, give me an idea of how long this Lottery event has been taking place in this town. They both show me that this has been a tradition with rituals by the old Black Box as well as describing Old Man Warner as “the oldest man in town”.
Little did the boys know that they were in for a ton of trouble. The principle suspended them all for a week but not only that trouble, they also were no on Brother Leon’s bad side, and when they will have his class for three more years, that will be the worst punishment yet. Even though Jerry refused to sell the chocolates brother Leon was still willing to protect Jerry and give him a better freshman year. Sophomore year Jerry was the main guy for selling chocolates. Everyone came to him to learn how to get on Leon’s good side, and an easy way to sell the chocolates.
When Mr. Jones walked by the gumball machine he had his twins who both wanted the same color gumball but it doesn’t matter which color. There were four gumball colors red, white, blue, and green. What is the highest amount of money that Mr. Jones can spend to get two of the same color gumballs? The answer I got was five cents because if he got one of each color spending four cents he would only need to spend one more penny. In my next question, there is Octomom with eight kids and two colors of gumballs (red, white).
I grew up with family, a few friends, but most importantly music. I’ve always had a pretty large family, my momma has six sisters and one brother, but it’s always been broken apart. My dad ran off, but my step-dad has always been there. Because I felt my dad never wanted me, I constantly tried impressing my stepdad, which, among other things, resulted in me playing TPR football for four years. Because I always tried impressing people, I never felt as if I fit in anywhere.

I was not able to eat it when I had braces and now that I got them off I eat it all the time. I hate it when there is not a lot of popcorn in the microwavable bags.
Some friends reduced my pressure by their understanding about American students; “All they like to do is join in the party; you will never see them studying in the library more than three hours. The truth is you cannot compete with them in language, but you can compete with any American student in academic study, because they are so lazy.” I was so excited, even though I did not know if it was true or not. After a whole day trip, I found my dorm in PFT with a tired body and spirit. “What does my roommate like?” I was thinking before I opened the door. All the lights were on but no body was in the room.
