Jamie Gosney International Christian Studies Professor White, Dobbins 3 December 2012 Final Integrative Paper As I begin to type out what I have learned throughout the time in this class, and the over view to my conclusion I realize that my heart has been changed dramatically. Before I entered this class I had a different outlook as to who God is, and how He fit into my life. Although I had been practicing the concept of giving up a lot of what I had for God before this class, I never really knew how to take the next step. My journey with God has been a dramatic struggle throughout my life. I have fallen into some bad times because of my sin, and on the polar opposite to that effect I have also given up a lot to be with God.
Although I am certain of God’s calling for my life, discerning His specific mission for me is am intimidating task. This paper will provide an overview of my evangelism vision and the related challenges in my life. My personal evangelism vision will guide my walk with Christ. Throughout my early Christian walk I was influenced by traditional Southern Baptist churches with strong evangelical visions of their own. Unfortunately, this focus appears to be fading in many of the churches my wife and I have visited in recent years.
LIBERTY SEMINARY UNIVERSITY AMERICA’S FOUR GODS A REFLECTION PAPER IN PARTIAL FULFILLMENT OF THEO 626 DOCTRINE OF GOD FOR DR. DANIEL MITCHELL BY KELLY ZELAYA 21 OCTOBER 2013 Froese, Paul and Bader, Christopher, America’s Four Gods. New York, New York:Oxford University Press, 2010. I found this reflection very difficult to write. Understanding the different levels of God and applying them to my life took a lot of inner analysis. The question posed for the assignment asked students to reflect on the question, “Why God?” Specifically, the question is related to the general understanding of the biblical God and how God is perceived in your personal experience, church, and community.
Megan’s Talk 7-13 Obedience I am going to start out with a scripture from D&C 93:24, 26-28. It says, “The spirit of truth is of God, and no man can receiveth the fullness unless he keepeth his commandments. He that keepeth God’s commandments recieveth truth and light, until he is glorified in truth and knoweth all things.” Our Heavenly father has given us the commandments to guide us and to protect us. Being obedient is doing God’s will. He knows what is best for us and he doesn’t want us to get hurt, so obeying His commandments will save us a lot of grief in the long run.
However, the Bible states that, “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands” (Psalm 19:1). Nature is not solely decoration; it glorifies God and shows His splendor. Another difference between the poem and a Christian’s view on death is regarding the purpose of life and death. In the poem, it seems that the only point in life is to complete the circle of life, that in the end “Earth… shall claim/ Thy growth” (22-23) and “shalt thou go/ To mix for ever with the elements” (25-26). There is no real hope of redemption, only the prospect of spending eternity in silence with wise, once-famous people and letting one’s body become fodder for the earth in order to preserve another generation.
We were not simply purchased but redeemed, and we will always have the same redemptive worth in the eyes and heart of God. I have always understood, or at least thought I understood redemption, but as I received the teachings on redemption I began to understand how it was the framework of the eternal assurance of our salvation. We have not just been bought at a great price, our bondage has been removed and we are set free forevermore. If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed (John 8:36). If the conditions of our redemption could be revoked then we are not free indeed.
My belief in God before my car accident was there, but now because of my accident I am solidified in my trust and faith in God. He saved my life because he wanted something more from me. So now with my new relationship with God and my new look on life, I try to take one day at a time and live life to its fullest. While raising my children, I try to show them the importance of God and the importance of including Him in daily life. I try to teach them who God is, what God has done for us and that you must have a relationship with God daily, you can be all God wants you to be and you can do all God wants you to do.
In his essay, “Where I lived, and What I lived For”, Henry David Thoreau says, “Shams and delusions are esteemed for soundless truths, while reality is fabulous.” He talks about how much better life would be if people focused on reality rather than their dreams. In doing so, Thoreau appears to his audience using logic. He establishes himself as someone who has faced this type of situation before. People are caught up in ‘soundless truths’ which means that they are fooling themselves of the real truth. He says that people should not allow themselves to get their hopes up that something good is going to happen to them.
(Exodus 20:3 You shall have no other Gods me.) I would answer the Teleological question by saying, “We are the Kingdom of God, and because we belong to God’s Kingdom we have purpose and destiny on my life. Since God has purpose on our lives that means he has a plan. Jeremiah 29:11 states, “I know the thoughts I think towards you thoughts of good and not of evil to give you an expected
5. Persistence When somebody is predestinated for salvation, nothing he does can change that actuality. The Puritans emphatically trusted, that God intervens effectively in their lifes. They trusted that God is available in each human activity and regular marvel. Henceforth, nothing happens by chance except for everthing happens intentionally.
