We are responsible to help them to grow. It is our responsibility to tend, mend, and mold their lives into something productive, positive, and healthy. The children that we raise will be the people taking care of us when we are in our elder years. So, naturally, I am concerned with the welfare and well-being of these beautiful creatures. Thus, the reason why I am writing on the subject of, The Psychological Effects of Movies, Music, and Video Games on the Minds of Children. It is my firm belief and experience that what you allow into your home, family, and life will affect you in some lasting way. Every day we are bombarded by television, internet, music, and video games, and this type of media especially focuses on our youth and children. In an article, Does Game Violence Make Teens Aggressive? Written by Mark Stanton of the American Psychological Association, showed that researchers at the Indiana University School of Medicine did a study and showed brain scans of kids who played a violent video game showed an increase in emotional arousal and a corresponding decrease of activity in brain areas involved in self-control, inhibition and attention. What these researchers did was take a group of 44 youth and separated them into two groups. One group played a non-violent, high octane race car game. The other group played a first person violent shooting game. The study showed that the kids who played the violent game had negative brain activity and the kids who played the non-violent game had no
