People every where have wondered what the problem is with Nigerians.They have arrived at various vices as the problems.To some it is corruption.While at other instances, leadership, illiteracy, tribalism, nepotism have been mentioned. Agreed these vices are endemic to us as a people, but they are not the problems.They are opportunistic results of particularly lacking ingredients. Our collective thought processes and individual thinking patterns.As a person thinks, so be his reality. Our individual reality, is that we are maladaptive.We undervalue ourselves as human doings/beings.We do not truly believe ourselves as deserving of good lives.We are satisfied with going through life in a state of mediocrity and underachievement.The average Nigerian will tag along without questioning whatever situation is thrown his way.Those who do, are considered faithless and troublesome.As a result, the typical behavior of Nigerians, would be to ignore the inappropriateness of their actions, when they have positions of authority thrusted upon them.Thus becoming apathetic to the problems of otherS.Hence, the corruption and nepotism. The greater number amongst Nigerians would cut corners and pilfer public funds or property without due consideration to the threat, posed by such action to the larger society.That is the reason why our assembly members, are unfazed by bleeding the nation dry, with the obscene salaries accrued to them.They have developed such effrontery, to claim rights. Jubril Aminu says their pay is pittance, when it is common knowledge that other countries, even the richest ones, pay like officials, far less than the Nigerians carte away.Yet as a group, we are busy shouting ourselves hoarse, without any plans to do something about this great injury.
