There are a number of strengths and limitations of using unstructured interviews to study pupil subcultures. Pupils may be in articulate or reluctant to talk, so unstructured interviews give them time and space along with encouragement to work out their responses. However, younger pupils have a shorter attention span so they may find long unstructured interviews too demanding as they can be quite time consuming. They can take several hours each and pupils are restrained to their timetable. There is also the need for training and the interviewer needs to have a background into education increasing the cost.
Alignment of Academic Standards with ELL Proficiency Standards Standards-based instruction or SBI is a very important part of the education reform today. The reason it is so important has to do with the fact that it shows a way to ensure that every student is exposed to curiculum that is both challenging and made to contribute to today’s complex world. SBI contains content standards witch tell what all students should know and be able to do at different levels of education. SBI gets teachers to raise expectations for all students and promotes the use of multiple assessment strategies in return this helps students to reach levels at different times and in different ways. SBI also requires a teacher to really differentiate her
Meeting children’s needs can affect practitioners as they will need to plan according to the children’s age, stage and needs. If there is a child in the setting who is visually impaired then the practitioner should make enlarged copies of worksheets so the child can see it much easier. This could affect the practitioner as if there are not any resources, e.g. large pieces of paper available, than this could limit the practitioner and also the child as it will become a barrier for their education and development. Another barrier could be lack of staff.
| Weaknesses | * Listing procedures can be time consuming. * Rehearsing procedures can also be time consuming. * This type of classroom assumes that misbehaviors only occur because students do not know what to do. Behaviors can also be caused by other factors. * Providing a list of procedures may not work in a birth through third grade classroom.
For a younger person it may be harder to accept the fact that they will need help with things such as personal care etc. If a person with learning difficulties is diagnosed with dementia there will have to extra support and services made available as this will change their needs even more. There are often delays in diagnosing dementia in a person with learning difficulties as the symptoms are often disguised by the original condition. It does not matter what ethnic
Landon Stewart Mrs. Luker Government A4 10/23/12 Cons of School Uniforms There are many schools in the U.S. that require their students to wear uniforms, and there are more that don't. I believe that school uniforms should not be required for a few reasons. Uniforms take away from a person's individual identity and freedom to express himself or herself. They can be costly to people depending on a family’s financial status. School uniforms can also be a very uncomfortable fashion that students would not take a liking to.
They may not have developed and experienced independent social lives, access to transport and communication may be limited and placements may be too far away from close family support networks. Mental health problems – Young people with mental health problems may have experienced barriers to learning in an educational capacity during school. This barrier may prevent those gaining skills for jobs and further training leading to economic issues. Mental health problems could lead to social isolation and issues relating to integrating with other peers due to anxiety and depression. Deeper pathological issues may have rendered the young person in a care system where things have been done for the young person all the time; this may have produced an inability to learn independent living skills.
This is a good think for some people, who don’t have the time to go to a traditional college. However, because online is different from traditional colleges. It is harder to get through some of the schools complex system. Online school provides students with some of the same components that traditional schools provide, with a couple of different components that a traditional school may not have assess too in one place.
If I was confronted with a class full of beginner students I would need to alter my approach to teaching. I would need to lower my expectations of the students to a level that is appropriate to their expected progress. I would use more visual aids than I would normally use in a higher level class to make up for the fact that the students will not have much vocabulary to fall back on. I would slow down the pace of my speech so I don’t lose students. I would also try hard to not allow the students to speak in their mother tongue as this is counter-productive to learning a new language.
It would be unfair for teachers to use cell phones most of the time because not all students have that ability. There are ways to go around this issue. There are always going to be opposing sides to this argument. Personally I feel that there are solutions available for teachers who dislike cell phone use in class. For example for people who don't have cell phones can partner up with someone who does have one, or there can be school administered tablets each teacher has just in case.
