There are always two sides: the good ones and the bad ones. Obviously it is not possible to define each one because there are different ways of setting a preference for who is the good or the bad. The Socs are the privileged kids from the Westside that as the word Soc means society, they have nice cars, they are rich and they live for bluffing. The Greasers are the unprivileged ones who live in the poor side and have to put up with the Soc’s attacks, in both moral and physical ways. A special detail to look at are the changes the protagonist undergoes during the novel which I think is one of the main purposes the author wants us to pay special attention to, since the entire plot is based on Pony’s feelings and expectation for his life.
The idea that unequal treatment and social mistreatment are still constant struggles is addressed in Angelina Price’s essay “Working Class Whites” and bell hooks’ essay “Eating the Other: Desire and Resistance. Both authors explain how racial and social controversy affects today’s society. This is done through Price narrowing her focus on how class structure and media relations affects this issue while hooks’ essay concentrates more on public perception with relation to this issue. Both authors use a significant amount of evidence to support their logic as well as ideas that allow the reader to draw their own personal conclusions. In both essays, the idea of social class fueling thoughts and perceptions of either the “Other” or “poor white class” in today’s society is drawn upon multiple times.
I agree with this because it is clear to see that after reading this article these drug dealers have no other choice but to risk their lives dealing drugs to provide for their family One quote that supports this is “..the foot soldiers earned just $3.30 an hour, less than the minimum wage.” The cause of this problem has a lot to due with the distribution of money in gangs. The gang presented in this article distributes its money like so, the leader takes home $66 an hour, his 3three officers earn $7 an hour and the foot soldiers earn $3.30 an hour. As you can see the distribution is far from fair when 2.2% of the gang takes home more than half the money. Another quote that supports this is “I mean, everyday people struggling to survive, so you know, we just do what we can. We ain't got no choice and if that means getting killed... its what we do around here to feed our family.” Another cause of this problem is the lack of choices they can make.
Then what is a stereotype? Stereotype is an exaggerated belief image or distorted truth about people - a generalization about a group of people where people use a very simple patter for judging an entire group of people. When this happens, stereotype leads to many negative effects to the society such as prejudice and discrimination. In this essay, however, two characters from Hana’s Suitcase and The Paper Bag Princess are demonstrated, and explain how the author deals with the subject of stereotype issue in each book, the similarities and differences: Hana from the Hana’s Suitcase is stereotyped on her race and Princess Elizabeth from The Paper Bag Princess is stereotyped on her sex. First of all, in Hana’s Suitcase, Hana is being stereotyped because of her religious, cultural and ethnical background.
This assignment I will outline the concept of an unequal society, in addition I will include prejudice, stereotype, labelling and discrimination. In today’s society a population of individuals are treated unequally or is an individual contributing to unfair treatment, in which they are treating them differently due to their race, gender, social class, sexuality or beliefs. In addition In the UK there is a major gap between the rich and the poor, society is divided and the rich share together and leave the poor with little stash left over. Also social inequality is also identified as when opportunities, different social position or rewards are unequal. Prejudice is when an individual is judged by aspects which do not relate to them at all.

These values are deviant to the majority of society, but because this value system exists in this community over conformity is not always seen as deviant to them (Coakley, ch. 6). In summary, as a result of Chicanos lack of opportunities, due to their economic situation, some develop an ideology that values toughness and this produces activities of violent expressions such as fighting. In using this theory, I am making the assumption that as economic restructuring worsened Chicanos’ position in society it also socially
Within my own workplace I have noticed that the some residents intolerant of people who suffer from Dementia. This is based on a stereotype that Dementia is a stigma. Structural discrimination reflects the way in which society allows some groups to retain more power than others. As such, some groups do not have the power to change the stereotypes that exist about themselves. For example, members of black and ethnic minority groups are disproportionately represented in low wage or unemployment statistics, reflecting their low status and position in society.
Looked down upon his whole life, he brings other people down in order to raise himself up. He does it with a sense of craftsmanship, appreciating the elegance or cleverness of a particular step in his scheme as much as its final result. Iago lives in a world of manipulation, and his countless lies buries his conscience. He masks his true identity behind fake personalities, for "[he is] not what [he is]" (1.1.66). Even though Iago stands in the lower class, he has superior intelligence.
The debate surrounding the essay is in judging Twain’s depiction of the “negro” Jim and its relation to past and present racial discourse. Smith is writing at a time where most respectable circles condemn the practice of slavery, yet many still blindly accuse Twain of being a racist out of a lack of understanding of the novel. These “respectable” circles and the schoolteachers, literary professors, modern critics, and libraries they influence are the target of Smith’s words. They are the educated, the part of society that is most likely to come across Huckleberry Finn, and Smith argues that their blind outrage
