Glen was just trying to be helpful because Dylan reminded him of his brother who had overdosed, but Dylan grouped together all helpful acts with people planning on using him. As well, this theme is also portrayed when Jenna betrays Dylan, because she ditched him, got him addicted to painkillers and got him put into Vulture’s debt, when all he had ever done was help her. Dylan was especially betrayed and his trust was deeply broken because Vulture was the one person who Jenna knew Dylan didn’t want a

He is obviously biased against his father and wants his mother’s sole attention. This point of view provides humor because Larry thinks that he actually belongs in his father’s place, as his mother’s sole companion. Sexuality is involved in the story’s humor because the boy sees his mother as a spouse and he thinks that they can have children together. 3. Larry calls it irony that his prayers were answered because he prayed that his father would return from the war, and when his father actually returns from the war, he wishes that he would leave again.
He worked so hard at convincing himself that he could recreate the past that he actually believed it could happen in his own mind. He hated his life as a kid because of the fact that he wasn’t rich. However, this backfires on him and ironically he is the one that ends up being the least masculine.

As the book comes to a close, Gatsby’s “job” is exposed as an illegal bootlegger and a fraud. When Gatsby loses all chances of winning back Daisy from Tom, it foreshadows his actual death, as his main goal and dream in life to make Daisy his wife is crushed.
