Participation in the Seminar is a very important part of this course. It is the one chance that you have each week to interact with your classmates and your instructor real-time. Seminar is a great opportunity to cover course material in a fun and dynamic forum where you can discuss what you’ve learned in each unit and ask questions about topics that you don’t yet understand. Students should actively participate in each seminar. During each seminar, the instructor will be asking students lots of questions from the reading assignments, so there will be many opportunities to answer and to make additional comments or ask questions of your own.
Angel accounts are available to all faculty, staff and students. Angel can be used for online learning where the student will do assignments, take tests and watch videos as assignment by the teacher.

Some learners find it more beneficial to gather their own information this way as well as the teacher led discussion and question and answer sessions we have as a group. During the group session I also utilise the whiteboard to record all relevant information so the learners if they wish to do so can take notes at any time during the lesson and don’t feel rushed to do so when the discussion is taking place. The bulk of the session time is spent in practical work of some kind, I try to vary this as much as possible within the constraints of the course content and environment. I have found that the learners enter into group based practical work with a lot more enthusiasm then individual tasks. Practical work I have used successfully includes: List the recipes and methods to follow (to build confidence and familiarity) Goal directed tasks (“ when you have prepared all your chicken like this you can have a ten minute break”!)

Utilization of this tool allows me to provide scenarios where the learner can hear mock examples of conversations or interviews highlighting specific techniques and interventions. This allows the learner to move at their own pace and participate in knowledge checks as a way to confirm their aquistion of new information as opposed to the live and more interactive approach of net meeting where questions can be asked and responded to while the presentation is
Individual students will be using their iPads consistently throughout the day. They will be used across the curriculum with students blogging, interacting on our class wiki, and creating multimedia projects. In small group instruction, specifically Tier 2 instruction, the iPads will be used to differentiate instruction. During small group instruction I will using Apps that compliment our units of study. Some students made need help with basic math facts while other students are ready to do some enrichment problem solving with their mathematics.
