However because not everyone can obtain all three aspects, desire can lead to competition resulting in violence and an overall fight for power. A society ruled by greed is not able to succeed and it is not possible for any society to exist without desire. A functioning society is one that can maintain a balance between desire and selflessness. Functioning societies can be thrust into turmoil over an imbalance in these factors as evidenced in King Lear by William Shakespeare and The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood.
This however, does not sit well with people who are becoming unemployed or who have seniority at their current jobs. Attending college is neither cheap nor convenient when you take into consideration that a lot of the employees who have been working for so long. In their brains they just are given a task and do it. They do not have the drive or means to set time aside to go take day/night classes, to keep up with and adapt to the social and economic changes. The Economics of the Poverty What is Poverty? Poverty in America is the state of being poor, and one lacks the means of providing material needs or comforts. Unfortunately, I have to say that this is still happening in many parts of the world. Poverty is said to exist when people lack the means to satisfy their basic needs. Poverty has been associated, for example, with poor health, low levels of education or skills, an inability or an unwillingness to work.
In the years of 1900-1985 during the 20th century, there were many social and economic conditions that were present in the Caribbean society. These conditions negatively affected the Caribbean. Measures were also implemented to improve such conditions. Some of the various social problems that were present were overpopulation, malnutrition, lack of housing, public utilities, diseases, lack of medical care and transport. Overpopulation or overcrowding occurred in various villages or communities because of the lack of housing and also of the lack of education; people kept having children and with this being a key factor to overpopulation.
So what causes this worldwide dilemma? Primary factors that lead to poverty comprises of overpopulation, lack of knowledge and competence, unemployment and high standards of living. These are not all the causes but these are some of the leading causes. One of the lead causes of poverty is overpopulation. A certain place can only cater a certain amount of people.
