Ishtar tries to influence Gilgamesh to take her hand in marriage but he replies “I would gladly give you bread and all sorts of food fit for a god. I would give you wine to drink fit for a queen. I would pour out barley to stuff your granary; but as for making you my wife – that I will not.” Ishtar acts arrogant going to her father Anu for the bull of heaven and tells him that if he doesn’t give her the bull she will make the dead rise and have more of the undead than the living.

Hesiod’s Theogony, it claims Aphrodite was born when Cronus cut off Uranus’ genital and threw them into the sea. From the sea foam (aphros) arose Aphrodite. Gods feared that because of her beauty, jealousy would disrupt the peace among them leading to war.
Danae, the royal virgin princess was the mother of Perseus after Zeus had visited the virgin by disguising as a shower of gold. Another hero would be Heracles, he was birthed in similar circumstances to Perseus, and was taken away to a foster family far away. This was another element to a hero narrative. There is little explanation about Heracles, however he fights the beasts and claims a kingdom, another important factor to a narrative. Orestes and Brasidas, were birth in different circumstances compared to Perseus and Heracles.
Character Analysis Till We Have Faces, written by C.S. Lewis, is a novel based on the Greek legend of Psyche and Cupid. The main character and narrator, Orual, retells her life from when she was young to her present age. In the story she tells of how being the ugly sister compared her two beautiful sisters, Redival and Psyche, has impacted her life substantially. Psyche was the major reason behind Orual’s actions because Orual was jealous that everyone noticed Psyche and never acknowledged her, and this would ultimately lead to the sacrificing of Psyche to the mountain god, Ungit.
Helen had superhuman strength such as superhuman strength, longevity, vitality and resistance to harm and eternal life. This was only true just as long as she continuously ate ambrosia and drank nectar from the apples of immortality. Helen was beautiful and many gods wanted her. When she was younger, a god named Thesus wanted to marry her so he kidnapped and left her to his mother Aphidnae until she was older. Trojan War 15.1.13 The Trojan War all started by when Peleus and Thetis had not invited Eris, the goddess of discord, to their marriage. This made Eris really angry and so she stormed into the wedding banquet and threw a golden apple onto the table. Eris said that whoever was the fairest would get this wonderful golden apple. Hera, Athena, and Aphrodite all reached for the apple, and couldn’t decide t who should have it so Zeus said that Paris, prince of Troy and apparently most handsome man alive, would act as the judge. Hera promised Paris power, Athena promised him wealth, and Aphrodite promised the most beautiful woman in the world.
This led to constant warfare between the leagues formed by the Greek city-states and Macedon. Around 221 BCE, Phillip V of Macedon took power of the Macedonian throne. He was considered to be the last Greek ruler who was militaristically and politically capable of uniting all of Greece.
