When we are searching for the information regarding the news, we should be, depending on the media and that reporter to do their job and give us a fair and unbiased account of the news. We have been conditioned to accept and believe all that is written by the media, without question. Where else are we supposed to go for the important news of the day? The popular press has become so slanted in their viewpoints. This is a subject that we the American people would prefer not to talk about. Should journalists confront facts declared by newsmakers? Of course they should. It is their obligation to do so. It is their job. Instead of worrying so much about the day- to- day workings of our government, we should be demanding more from the media to ask the important questions and report it. Let me be the one to come to my own conclusions as I am intelligent to do my own due diligence and come to my own truth. The media has a strong influence on what the public perceives as news. The public sees important topics reported repeatedly. We as humans tend to focus on only good stuff and gloss over things we chose not to think about. Burying bad news, or creating spin, is a tactic used by the media to hopefully make the reader remember only the positive story of the day. It is not uncommon, for reporters to also single out topics selectively and present the facts and quotes to support their specific position. “Get your facts first, and then you can distort’ em as much as you please” ~ Mark Twain What ever happened to who, what, where, when, and why?
