A Film Critique of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is a delightful children’s film that is very interesting, fascinating and also symbolizes events described in the Bible (Adamson). The children in the film, Lucy, Edmund, Susan, and Peter live in London during the war but are sent to live with the professor because of the air raids. When they play hide and seek, the children discover the magical wardrobe. All of the children end up going through the wardrobe and find themselves in the land of Narnia. In the land of Narnia they are known as the sons of Adam and the daughters of Eve and according to prophecy will restore peace to Narnia and rule out the evil white witch. They must combine forces with Aslan the lion and the other creatures of Narnia in order to defeat the evil white witch (The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe). The film was perfectly cast, great acting and good production design. The actors are very well behaved and polite. The scenery is breath-taking and the animals look very real. Roger Ebert states, “The effects in this movie are so skillful that the animals look about as real as any of the other characters” (Ebert, par 12). This film is complete in awesome performances in both acting and special effects and is perfect for those in need of a dose of goodness. Families can enjoy watching this film together. It was a great movie with themes including: good versus evil and Christianity. It was very encouraging and is recommended to every one of all ages.
