Legend has it that, when earth was created there was nothing but 'Nun'. 'Nun' was the dark waters of chaos. One
day, a hill rose up from the waters, this hill became to be known as 'Ben-Ben'. On this hill stood Atum, who is believed to
be the first God of Egypt. It is said by the Egyptians that Atum coughed and spat out Shu, God of Air, and Tefnut, the
Goddess of moisture. Shu and Tefnut had two children, Ged and Nut.
Ged was the God of earth, while Nut was the Goddess of sky. Shu lifted Nut up so that she became a canopy over
Ged.Egyptians believe because of what Shu did, there is sky above earth.
Nut and Geb soon had four children names Osiris, Isis, Seth and Nephthys.
Because Osiris was the eldest son, he became the King of earth and Isis was the queen. Osiris was a good king,
and he had ruled over earth for many years. However, everything was not well. Seth became jealous of Osiris and
wanted to become king, ruler of earth. He grew angrier and angrier each day. One day his anger took over him and
he killed Osiris. Because of this Isis could no longer be queen.
After Osiris died he entered into the underworld, a place for the dead. Seth remained on earth and became king.
But unfortunetly for Seth, all of his wealth, pride and royalty was about to be snached away him. Because Osiris and
Isis had one son called Horus. Horus battled againist Seth and regained to throne of the family. Thus, Horus became
known has King of earth and Osiris became known as King of the underworld. That would be the true legendary story
Egyptian Gods and Goddess.
