The Leading Causes of Obesity Essay In this country’s society, obesity is a rising epidemic that starts in early childhood and goes along the way to adulthood. Obesity means having too much body fat, and if it’s not taken care of, this extra weight can cause serious health issues. People can become overweight by various reasons; for example, by having extra muscle, bones, or water but the main reasons are the lack of exercise and bad eating habits, which they keep the growth of obesity. One of the main causes of obesity is the lack of exercise. People are surrounded with environments that don’t support healthy lifestyle habits. Heavy work schedules, school, and traffic can take much of people’s time to even think about exercising. Sitting down and just working with the eyes, arms, and brains is how people tend to spend most of the time at work and when they get home, they continue to do the same thing in order to relax. This is where the lack of the energy balance takes place; the energy IN has to equal the energy OUT in order to have no weight gain, but the more energy IN than the energy OUT overtime equals to weight gain. All that sitting can get them to gain weight overtime, and if it continues, people can gain weight until they’re unable to use any of their muscles. Another cause of obesity is having bad eating habits. If people eat at all times, whatever they feel like eating and eat a great amount of it, it probably means that they have bad eating habits and that they have no control over it. This kind of habit is pretty hard to get rid of, pretty much like trying to quit smoking, drinking, biting nails, procrastinating, or shopping compulsively. Some people can really take care of such habits, but some just don’t have the willingness to try and stop these unhealthy habits and continue to eat and eat thus causing obesity and risking body
