The Influence Television Has on Children Today, television has become a popular form of entertainment in many people´s lives. It provides us world´s news, useful information and entertainment, especially for children, who are the ones that are more exposed to television. Moreover, television has played an important role in many children’s lives and its viewing has been a favorite activity for many of them. The effects of television on children can be divided in two aspects: positive effect and a negative one. First of all, television contains some programs that are good for children. It means that these programs sometimes have a positive influence on children´s behavior whether it is educational or entertainment. And also they can increase their knowledge just by watching. For example; if children watch good educational programs on TV they can learn many new things very easily. In the same way, they can learn about places they have never been to and animals they have never seen. TV can be a medium for education. Another important thing about TV programs is that children can learn to develop important skills like language, creativity, motor, and social skills. Of course, everything depends on the parents because they can control what are their children are watching. Certainly, parents can spend time with their children sharing nice things that happened in the day while they are watching TV. Second, on the other hand, TV also brings with it serious problems. Watching TV could lead to a number of health issues. Many children acquire obesity because of watching TV too much without exercises. As a consequence, it leads to laziness and health deterioration. For example; they prefer to spend hours and hours watching TV instead of doing healthy activities like doing exercise or walking on the street. Another important factor
