Carr’s “Is Google Making Us Stoopid?” and Naughton’s “The Internet: Is it Changing the Way We Think?” showed the impact technology has had on us related to reading and critical thinking. It made me more aware of both the benefits of how accessible written word is in modern times, but also how we analyze what we are reading with much less depth than we have historically. Having online and in class discussions on the various topics brought up by the essays we read gave a good perspective into how conflicted people are with the upsides and downsides of the changes in language and how we approach

Garrett McCloud Writing and Composition II Professor Dilkes Me as a Reader and writer My experience as a reader and a writer is very interesting. A lot of the times when I write I usually have a very good understanding of what I read and write but sometimes I rush and do not go over what I write. As a reader I would take the insight of the author writings and then try to incorporate or compare it to my life to see how I can relate to it. Try to put it in my on perspective in order to have an idea of what theme should be for that paper. Learning about how the theme of your paper should be related back to in every paragraph is important to the flow of the paper.
They were success in their life by showing their effort, motivation, determination, and focused in learning how to read and write. They never give up in their hard time and they were supported by someone or something. They would study the dictionary and spend countless hours struggling to understand the basics. If we are to have a society that looks for the well being of all people, we must learn to recognize that as people we are diverse and must learn to embrace one another with love, respect, and honor each others’ uniqueness. For example, in “Race, Class, and Gender: An Anthology” by Margaret L. Anderson, and Patricia H. Collins (2010), provided a wealth of information in the narratives they produced from the different scholars and teachers they worked with and interviewed to make this book inspiring and an eye opener to understand our world better. Transformation is not easy and we must be willing to change the way we think on many different issues that deal with gender, race, discrimination, and acceptance of each other despite our differences. The narrative that really touched me the most was “From A Native Daughter”, by Haunani-Kay Trask. I have not appreciated history as much as I should have, not proud to say; however, after reading this narrative it opened my eyes and mind that not everything we read or hear about history is the truth.
I try and write so I connect with others. I try and be relatable so everyone can connect with what I’m saying. I also try and write as the person I really am in real life. I want readers to think that they know me as a person just by reading my writings. I tend to go this way because I want people to know the truth about me.
Nothing more, nothing less. But when you continue reading that book, getting to know the person, you start to see, learn, and appreciate what wasn’t there before. This passage and book sparked an idea in my own idea. It made me look at the world events around me and certain realizations hit me. In all these countries, where people are oppressing or trying to oppress people, education isn’t a priority.
I can learn about information that is trying to be taught by using hands-on problem-solving. I am improving my ability to be become a thinker by finding time to reflect independently on new information and looking for opportunities to work independently. I try to be sensitive to individuals’ feelings by giving positive feedback. I present constructive criticism in a way that I hope others would not take offense to. Knowing others strengths in an online learning environment helps me understand how they think.
Reid thinks the main purpose for writing is writing for real life. Write what you know and are curious and passionate about so that you can show not just tell. She believes that those rules are not universally true. When situation changes, suppose we are writing for a newspaper, rules are not appropriate under such situations. And although writing is hard because there are thousands of rules to follow, we are encouraged to set aside those so-called rules, write rhetorically, make a breakthrough and try something new.
