Assignment Two: “Explain the Importance of Training and Talent Development to the Organization” Veunanthe Dorlouis Professor: Jamie Davis Smith, Esq. HRM 534 – Employee and Labor Relations January 29, 2012 Identify at least three types of organizational training categories and explain their importance. An organization that has the ultimate desire to succeed its business endeavors must provide training at all level to its employees. Training in many cases is to equip the employees with specific skills and knowledge to enable them to do their job properly. The first type of organizational training categories is required and regular training. This type of training corresponds with the legal aspect of the job and safety. In other words, this kind of training are obligatory trainings that the organization has to provide due to legal or business requirement, or it might be given to all employees such as new employee orientation (Mathis, 2010). Next, the second organizational training category is job/technical training. This type of training is provided to augment the employees’ capability to execute their job, in such areas as product knowledge, technical processes and procedures, customer relations (Mathis, 2010). In addition, the third type of organizational training category is interpersonal and problem solving. This kind of training targeted at creating a favorable working environment. Also, it helps addressing the concern pertaining to both operational and interpersonal complications and aims at cultivating working relationships such as interpersonal communication, managerial/supervisory skills, and conflict resolution (Mathis, 2010). Training of any form or shape serve the organization needs to maintain and retain individuals who are performing at their best, having the acquired skills, knowledge, and desire to see the company
