Unfortunately we did not have a good dynamic with at least 1 team member which cause a quite a bit of delay and frustration, but we were able to side step this for the most part and push on with the objectives. Things got really bad one particular week and I am glad it’s over I will have to really do some thinking about how to deal with this if it happens in the real world. 3. What did you learn in completing this project about yourself and how you work in a team environment? I work better with people who are of similar thinking, I think that I lead better than follow, and I know that I prefer to work on things alone.
I had an answer, but I struggled terribly with putting it down on paper because I wanted this interview to “be perfect”. I was too worried about what I looked like or sounded like, so ultimately I had lost “my voice.” I went to my dad for more help. I had wasted a whole hour stressing over how to answer a few questions about myself. My dad told me something very important that day, he said, “The best way to impress someone is to be you”. After meditating on what he said to me I had at least something to put down.
My schedule doesn’t allow for a lot of give, so everything I do is with purpose and on time. I forget that not everyone has the same regimen and need to be so time conscience. I am also not good at adapting to change, which is a critical skill I need to work on. In being with the same company for so long, we have seen our fair share of change, and I do eventually come around, but I think I could do it faster and better if I were more flexible and adaptive when I first become aware of changes on the way. Sometimes we learn of change the day of, via email, and it definitely throws me for a loop.
CONCLUSION Being put in a team to do assignments can be very hard for some people because they may like to work alone. But if you think about it if you work in a team you can get the work done in half the time. It won’t put a strain on you worrying how can you get the work done, knowing you have to work and do other day to day things. As long as you designate who is going to be the leader and do what the leader tells you or ask you to do, the team will be fine. Just think how exciting your paper will be with all the other ideas, they may think of things you had no idea even existed.
This system, along with an intrinsic motivation to do well, has always encouraged me to do my best in school and do whatever I could to learn more and keep my grades high, resulting in me being a better student, learning more study skills, and getting higher grades than I might have otherwise. I have noticed, however, that the conditioning was more effective before college. Now that I am living away from my parents and do not know many of my professors personally, I do not have the immediate day-to-day rewards or punishments. The effects persisted strongly in my first few months of college, but then slowly declined. I still work hard and get good grades, but there is less of a motivation to study constantly and I often find myself not using my free time as efficiently as I would have at home.
Waking up early on a Monday morning, forcing ourselves to look presentable and get to work, is never something that we look forward to. So what keeps us getting up day after day week after week? For many, getting up is important to keep their means of living but for others their employers put out incentives that cannot be turned down. Each employer’s incentives vary depending upon the workers and environment they are trying to create. For my current work place, we are offered many incentives that keep the practice running properly but also gives it a family like feeling.
I have taught these girls before and it is a battle no one wins with them. I initially took a hard stance on the lates and was not going to tolerate it, but I soon realized it wasn't a battle I was willing to fight, but I could not just ignore it. I talked to the three and asked them how we could both make this work. They decided the amount of time after class that they were late. The end result is that all three girls rarely come late anymore because they would rather
That is my main function within the group, to facilitate the day-to-day actions of the other members. If something needs to get done, I assign a member that task and then follow up until completion. The only draw back so far is my aggressive attitude towards mission accomplishment has caused some of the other members to recent my approach. I do not always ask for things in a nice way, I think being direct is the quickest way to get something completed. The biggest affect that it has on the group is slowing down the amount of work that was getting completed.
Allowing them to have more responsibility of the team as a whole will provide the encouragement to believe in themselves and what they can accomplish. | Chris Howard | * Team Player * Ambitious * Engaged * Focused * Goal driven | * Set goals above normal achievement level and reward with additional responsibilities * Set aggressive performance targets and reward with the ability to set their own performance targets | Goal Setting Theory: This individual performs at his best when he is able to set goals and work towards those goals. Setting goals above his comfort level will encourage him to reach outside of the box to push him further and give more confidence in his abilities.
They explain that setting long and short-term goals can help us accomplish the things we want out of life. Setting long-term goals helps us to better understand what we want out of life and the short-term goals we set help us better reach the long term goals. The reason we break down the long-term goals into short-term goals is because it makes it easier to stay focused on what we want to accomplish. Always start small and work your way bigger, you have a better chance of success this way. How to Manage Time Wisely Being able to manage time wisely is essential for success at Axia College.
