“When The Wind Blows” By: James Head In the wake of the earthquake off the shore of Japan that caused several Nuclear Reactors to fail, the need for safe, clean energy is becoming a hotter topic on the minds of many people throughout the world. So, why not use the wind? Advances in modern technology have enabled us over time to redesign windmills so that they can be used to generate clean energy, which in many cases can be wired directly into the power system that is already in place around the U.S. This is without a doubt a major plus considering that windmills are able to produce electricity without nuclear capabilities or the burning of Fossil Fuels that in turn release Co2 and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. This being
Solar energy benefits outpace the concerns of drilling by a landslide. The time has come to put the drill aside and use are natural tools to energize our country. Coal, oil, and natural gas are the primary non-renewable energy sources being utilized in the United States today. These resources, also known as fossil fuels, are damaging the natural environment that we live in carrying great consequence. According to Klare (2010) “It may not seem as if we operate under such a philosophy today, but we do—one that extols growth over all other considerations, that privileges existing fuels over
This program exactly is the reason why the utilities companies want to stop it since it is unfair for the non-solar customers. While people benefit from California’s incentive plan of solar energy, the fossil fuel utilities company also has a plan giving credit to their users. Despite the solar power technology is challenged by the fossil fuel utilities, it has been considered as a possibility of substitution of utilities. In my opinion, it is somewhat simple to save money with solar power. You can build your own electricity generator by using solar panels.
If more people fight to force the government to make wiser energy decisions we can turn around global warming. Many communities are surrounded by nuclear energy plants or other harmful energy plants. This is a dilemma that local communities face when trying to fight global warming. Each individual can only do so much to fight these huge corporations and energy plants. The best thing we can do as a society is establish better laws for what is considered acceptable when creating energy.
Supplying a sustainable source of energy for today’s population is already a challenge, however in the future the world’s population is set to hit a peak of 7.8 billion. From the graph you can see that, in the past, the supply of energy has always followed the pattern of increasing population. This was because the world still had large reserves of untapped fossil fuels, allowing for an increase in production. However as these reserves begin to diminish the supply of energy may fall behind the increase in population unless an alternative form of energy is found, capable of filling the large energy gap left behind from fossil fuels. This coupled with an increase in living for the majority of the world, especially RICs such as India where its oil consumption had increased by 40 million tonnes over a 6 year period, makes supplying the world’s energy demands a very difficult task.
Fracking is bad for the environment. People still need natural gas or oil to live their life. It will take time to get all of the bugs worked out of fracking. Fracking companies are using the new technology to insure the protection of the environment. Fracking is a cheaper way of obtaining gas.
What message is he peddling that few seemingly want to hear? It’s twofold: No. 1, solar and wind power cannot meet the world’s voracious demand for energy, especially given the projected needs of emerging economies like India and China, and No. 2, nuclear power is our best hope to get off of fossil fuels, which are primarily responsible for the heat-trapping gases cooking the planet. Many in the environmental community say that renewable energy is a viable solution to the climate problem.
Climate change is a big deal these days, with everyone, including large businesses, trying to put in an effort to go “green”. 1. Factory farming, by many surveys and experiments, has been considered to be the number one cause of global climate change. 2. Factory farming is responsible for about 18% of greenhouse gases emitted.
It seems like money has bought over morality, who really gives the cold shoulder to a dying planet? Apparently companies like Koch Industries finds it amusing to do so. They are guilty of delaying renewable energy and advancements in stopping global warming by shushing everyone up with big piles of cash. Sadly, anyone can be forced to speak or can be put down with just a few bucks nowadays. Many fossil fuel industries tend to lie about clean renewable energy; the main lie is usually how it’s to expensive to use green energy and it’s much cheaper to stick to fossil fuels.
For thousands of years humans have used different parts of the hemp plant for food, textiles, paper, fabric, rope and fuel oils. If hemp was to be legalized again in the United States hemp would create new jobs, the United States would benefit from spending less on importing hemp and increased revenue on the exportation to other countries. The hemp plant is a renewable resource and can be produced domestically, it grows quickly, naturally resists plant
