This made Baker the first American woman in history to be buried in France with Military honors. In conclusion, I would like to say that Josephine Baker is an example of a courageous woman. Josephine Baker has continued to intrigue and inspire people throughout the world. In 1991, HBO released “The Josephine Baker Story.” The movie won two Emmy and also picked up three Golden Globe nominations. All her life she’d entertained people and cared for them.
Tut was married to his half-sister Ankhesenamun. This was a common practice amongst Egyptian royals as they wanted to keep the blood line pure. Figure 8.10 is a chair panel on the Golden Throne, depicting the young Pharaoh Tut and his wife Ankhesenamun. This artefact shows the loving affection between husband and wife, where Ankhesenamun is touching Tut’s arm. Another artefact that clearly shows this relationship is the lamp found in the antechamber.

At this time, films were beginning to incorporate voices of the actors, known as ‘talkies.’ In the United States, they helped secure Hollywood's position as one of the world's most powerful cultural and commercial systems. Until this point, it was unprecedented that woman sought fashion trends through film. Originally woman looked for trends through advertisements in newspapers and magazines (figs 5 and 7). Woman indulged themselves in fur and silk, if they were wealthy enough.

Myrtle started acting like a rich person just because of a material object. This is materialistic because Myrtle acts rich just because of a dress. Myrtle shows her materialistic qualities when she says “It’s just a crazy old thing; I just slip it on sometimes when I don’t care what I look like.”(pg31) This leads to Myrtle thinking of George in a materialistic manner in the next example. Because George didn’t have enough money to buy a fancy new suit for his wedding day he borrowed one from someone. When Myrtle finds out about this she gets mad at George.

When people are taught about Ancient Egypt, many people instantaneously think of the infamous Queen Nefertiti. When translated, her name means, “the beautiful woman has come”. She was a well known Egyptian Queen and several have even believed she is even more legendary than her husband, King Akhenaton (Amenhotep IV). She is known for her iconic status, beauty, grace and being the 18th dynasty in 1351 BC. Even though Akhenaton had several other wives, he seemed to be completely immersed in thoughts about her.
