In ancient Egypt the subject of earrings are very developed. Queen Nefertiti, wife of Anatolian, had a big collection of earrings. The Egyptians believed that earrings brings luck and happiness. Every women used to wear at least one pair of earrings from the age five. In ancient Babylon, the kings used to wear big earrings made of iron. They believed that earrings would give them strength and bravery, and would help them to conquer their enemies. Whenever they had a victory, they used to take the enemies earrings and put them on their earrings. In pictures from that time, one can see, kings with a lot of earrings. In ancient Greece, earrings were a sign of loyalty. In the story, The Odyssey of homer, Odysseus travels for many years, in many countries, until he returns to his wife, Penelope. He discovered that all these years she stayed loyal to him. He knew this because she was wearing the earrings that he gave her when he left. In the roman time, the gladiators used to wear earrings because they believed in the earrings' power to strengthen them against the lions. Also, many jewelers crafted earrings for women, which were made of precious stones such as polished amber. The amber came form the cold Baltie countries, then were carved in Italy. In the middle ages, it was a custom for the rich people to look for the women with the most expensive collection of earrings. There was a story about the crusades, Henry De Bloi, from France, in the 13th century. He went to the crusades, to the holy land, and promised his beloved lady to bring her golden earrings when he would return. When he reached Jerusalem, he started looking for golden earrings for his lady, he heard that there was a very famous goldsmith in Hebron.
