Veronica Torres Mr. Bontrager October 26th, 2012 The Great Climate Flip-Flop= In todays society people do not know what global warming really is. People think all over the world that global warming is worse than it is, or not really important. According to www.merriam-webster.com, “Global Warming is a gradual increase in the overall temperature of the earth’s atmosphere generally attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide, chlorofluorocarbons and other pollutants. ” Through many years of research, it has been proven that this has been around for many years and it has been effecting us in a lot of different ways. William H. Calvin, PH.D, has published a book about his studies and his research that he has observed in the past years. “The Great Climate Flip-Flop” is an article that he has written about his research. He relates about the abrupt climate changes to human evolution. Recently he has been working on global climate change issues. The story was published in the Atlantic Monthly in January of 1998. Calvin attended Northern University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He received his PH.D in 1966 from the University of Washington. Calvin is a Theoretical Neurologist, Affiliate Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle. Calvin has written many other books, such as “How Brains Think” and “The Cerebral Code.” Throughout the article “The Great Climate Flip-Flop” by William H. Calvin, explains to you about global warming and the different effects that follow with it. Calvin says that we are currently in a warm period at this very moment that has started around two hundreds years or it could be older. Going back to the ice age is now a fear.
