In the story “The Girl with Bangs,” the narrator falls in love with this self indulged, yet self neglectful girl named Charlotte with hypnotizing bangs. “In this case, it was those bangs, plush and dramatic curtains opening onto a face one would queue up to see.” (Smith 2) He becomes obsessed with her despite the fact that she has a boyfriend (Maurice) and stalks her out, jumping on the opportunity to seize her when she learns the boyfriend to leave the country “...he agonized and weighed Charlotte in one hand and the money in the other and found he could not leave without the promise that she would wait for him. This promise she gave him but he was still gone and gone is gone and thats where I came in.” (Smith 8) then befriending her friends to get closer to her. In the end, Maurice returns to marry her, her affair with the narrator is ended and a secret affair with a secret lover is revealed all before she is to be wed. The love style for this story I believe is Eros love style.
Nevertheless, those very same good characters lie to each other constantly, even while understanding how two-faced they're being. Secrets pile on top of secrets, making these characters more duplicitous than The Kremlin ever was. The unbelievable deception and absurdity is enough to make the casual viewer want to pick up the television set to try to shake some common sense into all of them. However, it is this exaggerated world of troubled teen romance and sparkly clothes and tasteless drama which is exactly what attracts the demographic that it does. Like almost all the shows ABC Family airs, it appeals to teenage girls—who are able to make their own decisions and develop their own beliefs but, nonetheless, are still very impressionable.
The quotes ‘If he ain’t, I better look someplace else, she said playfully’ and ‘Hi, Good-lookin’.’ These show all the workers think Curley’s wife is attractive and she knows this, so she’s being confident with them. It was unusual of women in the time of the great depression to be bubbly and playful as times were hard and money was tight. Another way in which Steinbeck presents women is as objects that are wanted but should not be obtained. The word "jail bait" is used to describe Curley's wife many times through the book, this word describes his wife in a way that presents her as a very attractive young girl, but the term jail bait can also be used to show that she is a danger to toy with. Despite the fact that she is constantly flaunting herself, if she is approached in any way it will cause conflict with Curley which could result in an altercation that could cause a prison sentence.

The speaker’s thoughts and phrases are on occasion interrupted with italics used to indicate the possible inner thoughts or spoken voice of whomever is being spoken to in the story. Line after line of instruction invokes a vision of a small child struggling to follow a hurried, exasperated and perfectionist mother through the activities of everyday life. She is a good mother with many lessons to teach and cares enough to guide her daughter into societal acceptance. She is also a selfish mother who is overly concerned with appearances. The lack of paragraphing and indentation gives the work a sense of being rushed to finish before this day becomes tomorrow.
Curley’s wife is first introduced when candy describes her to George. Candy says ‘she got the eye’ which implies she spends her time staring at every man she encounters. Following that he also calls her a ‘tart’ indicating that she is a woman that is sexually suggestive. Candy is a genuinely kind and truthful person and calls everyone a ‘hell of a nice fella’ so when he dislikes her we also disapprove of her. Furthermore Steinbeck emphasises this impression of her by her physical appearance in the novel.
S Z Connie’s Bad Decisions In the short-story “Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?” by Joyce Carol Oates, the author writes about a young girl named Connie who is really into herself and only cares about her looks or about how beautiful she is. The author Joyce Oates writes, “Connie knew she was good-looking and for her that meant all” (563).

The councillor will continuously compliment the patient and uplift them with the things they say slowly giving them back their self-esteem and self-image. The approach can be used within a care home to ensure that a service user feels appreciated. A service user called Samantha lives in a care home and likes the staff to meet her needs. Her primary carer knows not to call her Sam and she prefers to be called Samantha, she is quite a quiet person and doesn’t like doing new things until her carer made her observe a knitting class, Samantha enjoyed it so much she decided to part-take, she won’t a certificate for the best knit blanket and she felt accomplished, this was her reward.
While there, he meets a beautiful woman named Lady Bertilak. She tries to seduce Sir Gawain by sneaking into his bedroom every so often and asking “favors” of him in an attempt to reveal Gawain’s weaknesses. Gawain resists these temptations when he says, “But people often form judgments on rumor, / and I do not deserve the claim they give.” (1265-1266). Here, Gawain is alluding to the fact that he is truly not that amazing of a knight as people say the knights of Arthur’s Court are. Lady Bertilak only seems to want Gawain because of his reputation and stories she had heard about Arthur’s knights.
