The Future Ahead In “ The World House”, Martin Luther King clearly believes that unless all racial people come together and see each other equally, they will perish. King’s tone throughout this excerpt is very formal, as well as serious. Figurative language is used throughout the entire piece, and is amazingly effective, as well as helpful in assisting King describe his theories. Using different scenarios, giving quotes, and projecting different allusions assist in informing the reader as well as keeping the interest awake. King gives many different comparisons throughout the passage between the world today, and the world tomorrow. Facts are given about how the world used to be, how it is, and how it could be. Using all of these tools, King slowly opens up the readers’ mind to the great possibilities of what the future can hold. Throughout the entire work, King goes back in forth through the past, present, and future. King compares these different time periods, and keeps the reader interested by describing the different ways of each time. Comparisons are made between the inventions and everyday living of the past, to the inventions and everyday living of today. Both past and present comparisons aid King’s progression into relating his outlook and dreams for the future. His attitude throughout the work turns from authoritative to completely serious.. As King’s writing progresses, his own personal opinions become apparent and known. King’s progression of ideas and topics is slow going, but fast paced at the same time. His ideas are expressed, and slowly he shows how strongly he honestly feels about the entire situation. When comparing different items King achieves the task of making the reader consider and perceive things from his perspective. This is very effective, and it can certainly help the reader believe in King and his ideas. The facts given throughout
