The Food Industry 2010 Introduction Our industrial sector is the food industry. We have chosen this sector because it is a sector which has consequences on everybody in the world. Everybody eats and drinks, everybody needs food so this sector is essential and we have been very interested in it. This economic sector has powerful multinational companies in the world which propose food such as Nestlé, Danone, Lactalis, Pernod Ricard, Groupe Bel, Kraft Foods, United Biscuits, Xinjiang Chalkis Co.Ltd, etc. After speaking about the food industry, we will speak about one major company which everybody knows: Nestlé, “the world's leading Nutrition, Health and Wellness Company”. We will talk about its history, its organization, its key points … and we will end the presentation the recent events for the company. The food industry is spread throughout the whole world. The companies of this sector set up either regionally, nationally, at a European or international level. Only big companies are implanted in most of the countries of the world, they are especially American and European companies such as Coca Cola, Pepsi, Mac Donald, Unilever, but also Nestlé. Some French groups like DANONE or LVMH are also classified at a world level. Nestlé is mainly established in Eastern European countries where costs are lower In 2002, in the world wide food industry classification, five French groups appear there. In the tenth position: DANONE which possesses a turnover representing a quarter of Nestlé’s which is first on the list of the world wide food industry classification. The food-processing industry has a dominating place within the French economy. This place can be explained by the fact that it generates a very big volume of exports and jobs.
