The Food I Eat

Have you ever heard the expression you are what you eat? There could actually be some truth to that saying. Each and every day, you have to choose what you are going to eat. At every meal time, you decide what you are going to have. Even if you do not prepare your own meals, you might be asked what you prefer. If you stop and think for a minute, it might be possible to gauge your mood and some of your desires from what you choose to put on your plate. There are certain foods I opt for when feeling certain emotions. What you choose to feed others is also an indication of how you feel about them. Examining some of the foods I eat will determine what they declare about me. The first thing the food I eat says about me is I have a diverse palate. The food that I eat does not necessarily define me, but it certainly is a testament to my diverse eating habits. You may be familiar with the nutritional food categories vegetables, fruits, grains, dairy, meat products, and fats. Eating some of each category is a good start to a diverse diet. I try and take it a step further by exploring each one of these categories more and more with every meal or snack. Within each food category is a vast array of foods. For example I can name five fruits I ate in the past week apples, oranges, bananas, grapes, and peaches. Food is perhaps one of the most mundane and taken for granted parts of our everyday life, yet there are so many unexplored foods we have not yet tried. Take a chance and try something new you may add something new and exciting to your personal menu. Often times when dining out I will go for the new or exotic food on the menu that I have not tried before. Having worked and ate at a number of high class restaurants I have tried quite a few exotic foods such as ostrich, alligator, snake, and even chocolate covered insects.
