The First Time I Saw Beauty Byron Ruise ENG 121 English Composition 1 Instructor: Melissa Tetterton February 3, 2014 Introduction As a soldier, I have traveled all over the world and have seen an abundance of very attractive women, but never have I become completely entranced by a woman’s looks. That is until I had witnessed the beauty and elegance of Stevie Ruise. It is said that, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder,” (Hungerford, M. W., 1878) and I am the beholder. This is my description of an encounter with an extraordinarily attractive woman. The First Encounter The first time I had a glimpse of true beauty was as I was walking into the motor pool. My motor sergeant had just finished printing and filling out his daily reports. Then he grabbed a manila folder from his cluttered desk, shoved the papers into it, and said, “Take this to the orderly room.” I took the folder from him and headed out of the office down the hallway. As I was walking my friend, Melbert, stopped me. “Hey! We still on for Hopkinsville tonight?” He asked. I replied, “As long as you have gas money.” We both laughed and I continued on my way towards the door. As I was walking I started nosily flipping through the folder and when I looked up, I saw Chief Robinson walking up with the most beautiful young woman I had ever gazed upon. She was gorgeous, but it was much more than that. She had a presence about her that was breath taking. As she passed me everything seemed to slow down and that second in passing seemed to last for hours. She walked so gracefully that she appeared to be floating. Her hair was auburn brown in color and though it was not in any discernible style, it was classy and glamorous. Her skin appeared soft, smooth, and silky to the touch. As she conversed with Chief her alluring mauve colored lips curled and wrinkled forming beautiful words. Perfectly arched
